Michelle reacts to her marks after the qualifying skate

" Kwan practically tumbled out of bed to beat Russia's Elena Sokolova and U.S. teammate Sasha Cohen, winning her qualifying group at the World Figure Skating Championships. "It's odd to skate so early, compete so early," Kwan said Wednesday morning. "But all the skaters are in the same boat." Well, they wish they were in the same boat as Kwan." March 27, 2003 - Michelle's practice this afternoon went great. She did a run through of her whole short program. Here is a report from the MKF

"It's impossible for everyone to take their eyes off Michelle no matter who else is on the practice ice. She's got an aura that just draws you to her."

MKF

"In the end, Kwan put the world championships in perspective. Referring to the war in Iraq, she said, "I think right now, it's hard for skaters to even think about skating. . . . I think to win is great, but I'd rather have peace in the world."

March 25, 2003 - Michelle was at the MCI Center in Washington D.C. today. Here is an exerpt from some Michelle Kwan fans who were at the ladies free skate practice. This is what they had to say about her.
"I went to ladies practice this morning. Michelle was there! Michelle did a complete run-through with 7 triples! She took out the split falling leaf and the spread eagle and added the last triple toe. It was reported that MK did not make ONE mistake - perfection!!! The rest of the ladies did not do complete run-throughs." And "She did a completely perfect run-through. Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous!!!"

Ladies short program practice report from the Michelle Kwan Forum

"As Sasha Cohen yanked a sweater over her leotard in one corner of the rink, and Sarah Hughes joked with her coach at another, Kwan did not merely saunter through her program, as most of the skaters did. She went, to the wonder of the crowd, full-out. She glided through each element, hitting triple after triple. A day before the start of the women's competition at the 2003 World Figure Skating Championships, she wasn't practicing, she was performing. And she was perfect."
