The Young Jedi Knight series was written by Kevin J. Anderson and his wife Rebecca Moesta. The first set of books goes as fallows: Heirs of the Force, Shadow Academy, The Lost Ones, Lightsabers, Darkest Knight, and Jedi Under Siege.
The Characters(Note-I got this part from inside one of the books)
Jacen Solo loves living things. He keeps pets of all species: animals, plants, insects (some are easier to care for than others . . . ) and he suspects he can speak to them using the force . . . though he doesn't quite know how.
Jaina Solotakes after her father, Han. She is a mechanical whiz, always dismantling droids, machines, anything she can get her hands on. Like Han, her spirit and self-confidence sometimes get her into trouble.
Lowbacca, or "Lowie", is the wookiee nephew of Chewbacca and a native of the planet Kashyyyk. Taller than any of the others, he loves to climb to the top of Yavin 4's massive jungle trees. And on his belt he wears . . .
Em Teedee, a translator droid built by Chewbacca to convert Wookiee speeck into Basic. But because Em Teedee was programed by See-Treepio, he tends to talk more than he has to.
Tenel Ka is the tough, self-sufficient daughter of Teneniel Djo, one of the witches of Dathomir. Loyal, though a little humorless, she will fight beside her friends whenever they find themselves in tough situations.
Now to set the stage- Jacen and Jaina are fourteen and train with thier friends on the Yavin 4 accadamy where Jedi Master Luke Skywalker teaches a new order of Jedi. The Empire has been pushed so far into the outer worlds it has almost been forgotten. The New Republic is led by Leia Organa Solo and the Jedi are once again becomeing stronger in numbers.
A new dark jedi school had opend. First they kidnapped Jacen, Jaina and Lowbacca but they escaped. Then they recrute Zekk as a Dark Jedi. Zekk becomes there Darkest Knight and in the end fights against his friend Jaina who wants desperatly for him to come back to the light side. The Good jedi win the battle. The Great Temple of Yavin 4 is blown up, Zekk turns away from evil, Tenel Ka looses her left arm, Jaina and Lowie get to work on machinary and Jacen tells some bad jokes.
