The Crayon Recycle Program's Fame!

The media has shown great interest in the Crayon Recycle Program and Crazy Crayons! Here are some of the many recognitions that the Crayon Recycle Program has received throughout the years.

All the news programs in Portland, Oregon (except FOX) have done stories about the CRP between 1993 and 1996. Reporters would come into LuAnn’s home with cameras and interviews ready. A local cable news out of Portland has done two feature stories on the Crayon Recycle Program™. The second one being a follow up story, due to popular demand.

CNN picked up on KPTV’s segment and played it nationally numerous times.

The “Twin Cities Today” program gave LuAnn a six minute live segment in their studio.

E-Town, based in Boulder, Colorado, has given LuAnn an award for her recycling efforts and did a live interview over
National Public Radio.

The Oregonian newspaper has published two stories, the second one being an update.

“This Week Magazine” also did a great report on the CRP.

The Scene, an environmental magazine in Minnesota, printed a story on the Crayon Recycle Program™.

The “Gresham Outlook” in Oregon also did a story.

The West Point Military Academy in New York paid for LuAnn’s trip there to talk to 23 classrooms at their elementary school on campus.

Small Business Opportunities, a national magazine, did a two-page story in their May 1998 issue.

Included in the March/April 1999 issue of American Girl magazine was a great “Trash to Treasures” spread. There was a color picture of Crazy Crayons and the address to write to the CRP. LuAnn received over a hundred letters from young ladies all over the country that wanted to know more about the Crayon Recycle Program™. She sent back a hand-written, personal letter to each one and now the results of their efforts are piling up!

The Recycling Association of Minnesota included Crazy Crayons™ in their “Recycle America” booth at the “Home and Garden Show” at the Convention Center in Minneapolis in February 2001.
