Jim's Picks:
Best Newcomer: Well, the trend in recent years has been that newcomers don't make much of an impact. I'd think Hakmeng would have a good chance but he's likely not going to be there, so I'm giving this one to Shawn Paradise by default.
Breakout performance: I think Wilson's ready for a breakout performance, he's been practicing, he's also had wins in the past two HFT's.
Most overrated/First Round Flop: This is a tough one. But I'd have to say Keith is the most overrated, since he has done little to prove himself yet he talks a big game. I also would be surprised, but not totally shocked if Greg fails to make it to the final four this year.
Most Intriguing potential matchup: Certainly everyone wants to see Greg face Corey again, in fact, their first and only match was only witnessed by a select few as it went on without the video camera present. But those two would have to meet in the finals, so who knows if it will happen.
The Big Game Score: Mister Cyrs 42, Greg-Angel Yackadoodles 21* If Patrick & Jon cannot attend.
2002 Champion: James Ostis. I feel good about my chances, and I think I will beat Steve in the finals. Also, The doubles champions will not be Greg & Keith, they will be Jim & whoever my partner is.
As for other odds and ends, I predict that there will be more upsets this year than in years past, the new table will have a big impact and Angel will be late,
Greg's Predictions
Newcomer: Shawn Paradise Breakout year: the only in position for a break out year is keith Big Flop: Corey, he sucks Matchup: Of course there is Greg vs. Steve. But a match between corey and james higson would be very intruging Big Game: Greg and Angel's team 40 Mr. Cyrs 24 Doubles Champion: Greg and Keith Champion: Greg I predict that angel will be late, also, goldfish will be prominently involved with any match corey is in, especially with the presence of James Higson. So there are my predictions.
