Halloween Foosball News 'N Notes

Here are the Halloween Foosball News 'N Notes for Tuesday October 16, 2001

With less than two weeks until the annual extravaganza, there is a great deal of prepartation necessary. The A-S Baseball Tournament especially needs to be taken care of, while there hasn't been much organization on the Angel's football game front either. But as has been the case in the past, once we reach crunch time, everything seems to sort itself out.

Meanwhile, round 2 has already begun in the Online Halloween Foosball Tournament. James Higson raised a few eyebrows by scoring a shut out victory against the #6 ranked Billy Gendron. Speaking of Billy, his health teacher, Mr. Melonakos didn't have any comment as to the rumors that Billy may make a Halloween Foosball comeback. He also was not asked.

James Higson's sister, Heather, who attended the 1997 Halloween Foosball Tournament, was at Lowell High School Saturday morning, taking the SAT exam there. Jim is believed to be the only Halloween Foosball player to be at the test that morning. Vinthi Thach who almost witnessed the 1998 Halloween Foosball Tournament was there too...

Jim and Steve saw the best movie of the fall last Friday. Corky Romano starring Chris Kattan was the #3 movie of the weekend at the box office and was called by one critic(Jim), "The best movie since Jay & Silent Bob".

The Celebrity Halloween Foosball Tournament is now in its second round. The results of round one included some surprises as well as some blowouts.
Zhang Ziyi beat Mariah Carey 5-1(we all know who the one was)
Shane McMahon beat Michelle Kwan 5-1
Norm Macdonald beat Barry Bonds 4-2
Mia Hamm beat Tara Lipinksi 4-2
President George W. Bush beat Drew Bledsoe 5-2
The Rock shut out Anna Kournikova 6-0
"The Man" Bill Clinton shut out Jennifer Lopez 6-0
Ray Bourque shut out Tom Brady 6-0
Homer Simpson beat Jackie Chan 4-3
Janet Reno beat all of N'Sync 5-1
Adam Sandler beat Bill O'Reilly 5-1
Vince McMahon beat Chris Tucker 5-1
Mel Gibson beat Paul Pierce 5-1
Lucy Liu beat Stonecold 4-3
Tom Hanks beat Britney Spears 5-4
Ichiro beat Larry King 5-1

The Hanks/Spears match was the most popular match, 9 people voted in it with Hanks winning in what was considered by some an upset.

Shepard Smith (fox news channel) just said Derek Jeter is the man. He didn't say that. TELL ME he did not just say that.

The Bartlett Fantasy Football Draft finally ended today. The defending Fantasy Bowl champion Stooges made two final picks, so there was for the first time, "Co-Mr. Irrelevants". Mr. Irrelevant #1 from the Philadelphia Eagles, "He Hate Me" Rod Smart. Mr. Irrelevant #2, from the Nashua Predators, "Hollywood" Sergio Maldonado. The Halloween Foosball Tournament Soundtrack should be ready by the weekend. Recently added tracks include "Let the Bodies hit the floor" which is Corey Pinkham's theme song. Once there is some definite information on the CD, a special page will be put up on this website. And news as of this minute (7:40), Queen's "We are the Champions" will be on the soundtrack as well.

Plans are still on for the first ever Halloween Foosball Doubles Tournament. Although there hasn't been much training specifically for it, hopes are still that this could be quite the thingy. The Doubles tournament would consist of 8 teams and would begin before the actual Halloween Foosball tournament. Each first and second round game will go up to 5 goals. The finals, which are to be held later, will likely go up to 10.

Jim, Steve, and Nicky were among the fans at Foxboro to witness the Patriots' 29-26 overtime victory against the San Diego Chargers. Its pretty ironic, had Tom Brady been matched up against Ray Bourque after this game, (as opposed to after the Bourque #77 retirement ceremony), and Brady would have liken won instead of been shut out.

Hey, how about some more news about James Higson? There are reports that he may be an "American flag" for Halloween. Everyone who was there that day knows that James is "Proud to be an American...where at least (he) know(s) (he's) free" Well, we recently purchased that song (God Bless the USA) on an American CD and do not be surprised when you hear that song on the 27th...possibly repeatedly.

Mrs> Peters may be Greg's new coach!! The Calculus teacher has recently been trying to figure out what Greg's "problem" is. Once she is able to say, "That IS the Problem" da-da-da-da-da-da-da, etchera etchera. HELLO.
