Jan was devoted to the Girl Scouts of America organization since 1968 when she became a troop leader. Here is her troop, #669 in Washington D.C., on the rear steps of the senate building with Senator Edward Kennedy in 1973.

She generously devoted her time and skills for many decades to Newton MA Girl Scouts.
A special Dogwood tree has been planted at Cedar Hill Campgrounds in Waltham MA. in her memory.
