BIO
In 1965 they moved to Hong Kong where Brandon became fluent in Cantonese by the age of 8. By the time he was able to walk, he was already involved in learning about martial arts from his father, martial arts expert and famed actor Bruce Lee. Brandon attended La Salle school in Hong Kong. After Bruce Lee's untimely death (while filming) at the age of 32, of what is to be believed, a brain hemorrhage, Brandon, his mother Linda and his sister Shannon moved to Los Angeles.
He attended high school in Los Angeles, where he realized that he had also inherited acting ability along with his martial arts skills. Upon finding out about the death of Beatle John Lennon in December 1980, Brandon dismissed all of his grade out of respect to Lennon, however the principal didn't share his good nature and expelled Brandon from the school. In 1983 he was expelled from school because of misbehavior, on one occasion he drove his car in reverse through oncoming traffic, but received his diploma at Miraleste High school. While at one school he was president of the student union. Brandon also attended Chadwick school in Palos Verdes. He later attended Boston's Art-Oriented Emerson College in Massachusetts where he studied Martial Arts and Drama like his father.
He restarted his Martial Arts at age 18 where he met fellow stunt choreographer and future best friend Jeff Imada. It upset Brandon to see all the posters of his Dad in the Dan Insano Academy and so he quit. For the next couple of years Brandon was more interested in soccer and basketball than Martial Arts. But once again at age 20 he took up and excelled in certain types of Martial Arts including Thai Kick-Boxing, Jeet Kune Do, and Yee Chuen Tao.
Having chosen an acting career, Lee took his work seriously. He studied at the Strasberg Academy, with Eric Morris in New York and in Los Angeles, and in Lynette Katselas' class in Los Angeles. His first professional job as an actor came at age twenty, when casting director Lynn Stalmaster asked him to read for a CBS television film, "Kung Fu: The Movie." Lee's first role in a feature film was the Cantonese film Long zai jiang hu (1986) [aka: "Legacy of Rage"] for D.M. Films of Hong Kong. Next was a movie filmed in Africa, Laser Mission (1990), which was followed by his American movie debut as a co-star to Dolph Lundgren in Showdown in Little Tokyo (1991). His first movie as the star was Rapid Fire (1992) where his co-stars were Powers Booth and Nick Mancuso. But his breakthrough movie was next, the movie that was to catapult him to stardom and onto better things, the Gothic Thriller The Crow (1994), where he plays a murdered rockstar back from the dead to avenge his and his fiances' murders. Apart from all the darkness and violence in the movie there is actually a romantic theme to it -- Brandon played the role beautifully and this is where he really began to shine as a promising actor.
Death: At age 28 years old Brandon was fatally wounded on the set of "Rapid Fire" when he was re-filming a scene in which he was shot at repeatedly. He was shot with a .45 from one of the rooftops. The bullets rattled around causing serious damage that left Brandon unconscious. The doctors worked desperately for five hours but it was no use. * At the time of his death, was engaged to Eliza Hutton. They were to be married in Mexico on 17 April 1993. Eliza made it to the hospital just in time as Brandon was pronounced dead at 1:04 pm on 31st March 1993 in Wilmington, North Carolina. He is buried alongside his dad in Lakeview Cemetery, Seattle, Washington. His funeral was held days later -- over 400 people attended, including David Carradine, Kiefer Sutherland and David Hasselhoff. Both Brandon's closest friends and Fight choreographers Jeff Imada and Jeff Cadiente were so shocked they couldn't speak; Linda reminded everyone "Brandon would want this to be a happy occasion; we are here to celebrate his life".
