God says in Malachi 3: 17, "And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him."
God's children are his Jewels! We may take many lessons for living from the formation of jewels and jewlery.
Brilliant, valuable diamonds are formed only be INTENSE Heat and Pressure. It is the hard times of life that turn coal into diamonds. But even diamonds when first mined are not jewels. Careful cutting and polishing is required to turn a stone into a gemstone.
Veins of Silver and Gold also formed under intense heat and pressure. Dug from the ground, they aren't ready for the jeweler. Gold or Silversmiths must purify the precious metals with more intense heat. Watching constantly so the heat is not too hot, but hot enough, the smith keeps skimming off the dross until he can see his reflection. In like manner God purifies his children in the fires of adversity, watching constantly, controlling the trial, taking the dross from our lives until he sees his reflection in us.
One day we will be judeged according to our works, and the bible describes this judgement as the burning of wood, hay and stumble which shall be consumed and the burning of gold, silver and precious stones which shall paas the test of fire.
