-Steve made his major league debut on 10/3/99 with the Red Sox vs. Baltimore Orioles when he entered in the 6th inning to help the Sox win 1-0 in 10 innings
-He played baseball for Peabody High School, where he was named Greater Boston League MVP, All-Star, and Player of the Year. He also helped his team win the Greater Boston League Championship
-In addition to baseball, Steve also played quarterback for his high school football team, where he led them to back-to-back Super Bowls
-He was the Boston Globe and Herald All-Scholastic Team selection for both baseball and football
-Named to 3 AAU All-American Teams when he was 13, 15, and 16 years old
