QUOTE: "The road to hell is paved with good intentions. The road to life is paved with humility." -Anonymous recovering alcoholic (35 years sober) Hello, The above quote has stuck with me for some time. I think that any professional in the treatment field, or true recovering alcoholic or addict, can relate to it. I am now at the beginning of what I know will be a very rewarding career, and I am not ashamed to say that it was personal experience that lead me to it. My entrance to the field was sort of back-asward, if you don't mind the expression. First came life experience, then the job, then schooling, and finally the credentialing process. Today I am working with adolescents who are only beginning their battle with addiction. Though a very high percentage of the kids we work with will not sustain any length of sobriety, they will know where to go and how to get the help they need when they finally accept that they have a problem. No matter where this career may lead me, if I'm working with adolescents or adults, I will always be fortunate to offer knowledge, engouragement, and most of all hope to the suffering alcoholic/addict.
