*Never Look Back* : Chapter 3

Meg stood standing in the middle of the empty studio for a few minutes just taking in the fact that she had met two of the most wonderful people she had met in quite some time. They were so kind to her, despite the fact that they were complete strangers, and they treated her as if they had known each other for some time. She felt comfortable with them. Of course, she was completely nervous to be meeting the guys of the major pop group NSYNC, but they seemed to be just normal down to earth people. Not at all like she'd expect them to be. On the other hand, she did have reason to believe that they would be inconsiderate such as a certain other group of pop singers wereShe immediately focused her thoughts back on NSYNC and not of the group that she compared them with, that was in her past and it didn't matter. She wouldn't let them matter to her anymore.

Meg finally gathered up her things and headed toward the door. She turned and looked back at the room once again. She knew that she'd remember this night for some time and she almost couldn't bring herself to leave. She sighed and flipped the light switch. Once the light had completely faded into darkness, she closed the heavy oak door and grabbed her keys out of her bag to lock it. Tossing the keys into her coat pocket she headed down the corridor, shouldering her heavy bag.

When she reached her reached her office, she entered the completely dark room. The only light provided was the small, flickering, red light from the answering machine on her desk. She flipped the light switch on and reached across her desk to press the play button on the black machine. It gave a small beep and Mr. Grier's voice filled the silent room. "Megan? Hello, it's Mr. Grier. I spoke with you yesterday about auditions. They will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Please pass that one to the group and you are welcome to come too. I've also been looking for a tour group to place you with. So far I haven't had much luck, but I did learn that the group that Mitch was placed with put in a request for a new choreographer a couple days ago. It's possible that we could sign you with them. I'm not sure what group that is, but I will be sure to look into it. Talk to you soon."

Megan's mind reeled as the machine clicked and rewound the tape. Did he just say Mitch? But wasn't that who JC and Joey were complaining about? No, it couldn't possibly be the same one. Meg told herself, shaking her head. However, she couldn't help wondering if it actually was him or not.

She quickly grabbed a blue folder from her desk drawer, gathered the rest of her things, and smiled as she walked out of her office letting the door close behind her.

Meg hurried down the hall flipping through her folder. She shuffled through the clutters of paper trying to find the audition sheet that she was supposed to return to Mr. Grier. She spotted the paper she needed, and tugged it out of her folder as she rounded the corner. Struggling to balance her belongings, she continued walking not bothering to look up until she collided into a tall man's t-shirted chest.

He dropped what he was carrying, which consisted of a stack full of papers, a water bottle, and two CDs. Megan's folder slipped from her grasp and crashed to floor along with his things. She noticed him scowling as they both bent down to pick up the fallen items.

"I'm sorry," Meg said apologetically, finally meeting his gaze. "No problem," the young man complied shortly, running a hand through his curly hair," It was just as much my fault."

She shoved the last few papers back into her folder. This seems really strange. I know I've never met him before, but he seems so familiar. Meg thought feeling a weird sensation of déjà vu. Meg handed him his water bottle, and he reluctantly extended his hand to grab it.

"Thanks," he answered. She thought she noticed a small smile tug at the corners of his mouth, but it was quickly replaced by the same scowl it had held before. As she studied his face for a few more seconds she was suddenly hit by realization. So that's why he seems so familiar. Is that really Justin Timberlake??First, I can't recognize JC and now I barely noticed Justin Timberlake standing two feet away from me? What is going on with me today? I must have gotten less sleep last night than I'd realized.

She snapped back into reality when she noticed him nod his head at her politely as he brushed past her, barely making eye contact. She opened her mouth to introduce herself, but she quickly closed it when she noticed his body turn the corner.

Well so much for that. Meg thought pushing her long dark hair back from her shoulders. She sighed and continued on her way to Mr. Grier's office.
