Midsummer/ Summer Solstice

June 21/22
(Southern Hemisphere-December 20/21)

Midsummer is recognized at noon. Midsummer celebrates birth, the next step within the circle. The fields have become filled with new baby animals. It is also the time to take advantage of the last few days of lengthened light.

A maypole was used to celebrate Summer Soltice in the days of olde. To celebrate this Sabbat create a small maypole with a dowl and ribbon, and place on your altar. If you want to go all out, create a real maypole and celebrate with friends.

A chant

Under the sun we dance and sing
Celebrating the last few days of light.
We know soon it will come to an end
And the beginning of lengthened night.
