Hikaru Utada!...

....a name that is heard all over the radio stations of Japan, a name that you have probably never heard of unless you're in Japan right now! Anyhow, I highly recommend her debut CD "First Love" to anyone who likes R&B or hip-hop music. Hikaru had beaten Namie Amuro's (a very popular singer in Japan)"Sweet 19 Blues" CD album in one week with 202 million sales. Then another 413 million albums were sold on March 20th and had 5.23 million sales on May! Now, Hikaru continues her streak, reaching 6 million dollars in sales. You go girl!

First Love

Born in the US, this 16-year-old sensation is influenced by American music. Therefore all the songs she wrote (and YES! she wrote them all) in her album contain a bit of pop and hip-hop feel. Her debut single, 'Automatic' hit the Japanese charts like a rocket and just wouldn't leave. That song was then followed by 'Movin' On Without You', which also stayed in the charts for weeks! These two singles were then remixed into different versions and were sold all over Japan. Hikaru has done it again, now with her first slow song, 'First Love'.

Good news! Hikki's second album Distance will be out on March 28th! Not like you guys can go and get it that day because this is the release date for Japan! Anyways...i'm sure this album will be as successful as First Love.

More good news! Hikki is entering into the US music industry with her new song as part of the soundtrack of the upcoming movie Rush Hour 2. This song features Foxy Brown. Here it is:
