What Is Brandon Youth?

A small not-for-profit group of adolescents hoping to make Brandon a cooler place for local teenagers! And the great thing is: ANYONE CAN JOIN!!! Being a part of Brandon Youth is as easy as coming to the meetings twice a month and voicing your opinions on what can be done to improve Brandon's youth activities.

The Brandon Youth Council was been set up in 1999 for the benefit and improvement of adult and youth relations, as well as to represent the voice of youth in Brandon. We are a group of students, living in Brandon, who want to help improve the youth's image in Brandon. In 2003, we decided to drop the word ‘council’ from our name, in hopes to make ourselves sound less formal. We have also decided to that everyone belonging to Brandon Youth would be an equal member. In other words, we don't have a president, treasurer, etc... and everyone has an equal responsibility to the group.
Brandon Youth get together once a month to discuss, plan, and work on events, activities and/or ideas to benefit the youth living in and around Brandon.

Anyone who is between the ages of 13 and 20 can join Brandon Youth.

At our meeting on March 4th, 2004 we decided that we would focus our energy on four things:
-Creating a Youth "Hang-out" centre
-Becoming a widely known group with more members
-Creating a Youth Newspaper to inform youth about the events coming up.
-Organizing an event for youth to particapate in, that will also raise money for the Hang-out centre.

We are always looking for new members and new ideas.
