North Beach Pier
Fished from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tide was low and incoming. Temperature was in the upper 60's to low 70's while I was there, light breeze with winds from the southeast at about 5 knots. Targeted Croaker, using bloodworms for bait. There were only about three other people fishing at any one time, most did not stay long because nothing was being caught.
Did not hook or catch anything, and did not see anyone else catch anything.
One person I talked to said he was fishing on the pier for about 11 hours last Friday, and did not catch a thing.
Last year about this time there was nothing being caught, but the pier was always crowded. This year the town of North Beach raised prices to fish from the pier. This years rates are $5 for the first rod, and an additional $2 for the second rod. The increased rates might be keeping people away, especially until the fish start biting.

Aqualand Marina --
It is about a two hour drive from the Towson area.
Arrived at about 11 a.m, the tide was low and incoming.
Stayed until about 3 p.m., when the tide was about at it's peak.
The winds did start to pick up later in the afternoon, making it somewhat difficult to cast.
Two other people arrived about 2 p.m., they had not hooked anything by the time I packed up and left.

Sunglow Fishing Pier --
Steady rain in the morning, so waited until the afternoon to go out on the pier.
Temperature was in the low 70's, winds out of the southwest at about 10 knots.
Did not catch anything. Used two rods, one baited with fresh shrimp and the other with cut up spot.
There were about 20 other people fishing, saw about 10 Whiting (in the 12" range) caught.
Also saw one fish caught that looked like an Angelfish, the kind you see in tropical fish tanks, but this one was about 10 times larger.
Fished from about 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., when it started raining.
Cloudy day, and really windy at first, making for uncomfortable conditions on the pier. However, temperature finally reached the upper 60's before the rain started.
Did not catch anything.
Saw two Black Drum (16-17 inches) caught, and one Red Drum (a.k.a. Redfish) at 25 inches caught.
No one hooked any Whiting.
One man was targeting sharks and was using a hook the size of your fist and a huge chunk of fish for bait (like you see in the shark week TV episodes). He used balloons to let the wind and tide carry the bait a lot farther from the pier than anyone could possibly cast. He said he has done well from this pier, but did not hook up with anything this day. Also, he said that this is one of the few piers on the east coast of Florida where shark fishing is allowed.
Also had a Pelican get tangled in my line. Two of the locals helped get it untangled. After I reeled it in to the pier, they used a pier net to haul it up onto the pier, then one man held it's beak closed while the other man untangled the line. When they released the Pelican it flew away none the worse for wear.
Fished from about 9 a.m to 3 p.m.
Cold and very windy conditions, temperature only reached about 65 degrees by afternoon.
Did not catch anything.
Saw only about a dozen Whiting caught the whole day.
