The X-Files is an hour-long, primetime drama that airs
on the FOX network, Sunday
nights. (Check your local listings for exact time and
channel.) It also airs in syndication on
FX (FOX cable), Monday through Friday. The pilot episode
of the X-Files (titled,
ironically, "The X-Files: Pilot") first aired on September
10, 1993. Since then, it has
been acquiring a cult following.
Created by Chris Carter, a former surfer and journalist,
the series follows the adventures of two FBI agents Fox
Mulder
and
Dana Scully literally
working out of the basement who investigate cases that
have been classified as The X-Files, i.e. cases of the
supernatural, the paranormal, and the strange. They run
into their
share of government bad-guys, part of what is called the
conspiracy/mythology arc of the series.
