45

Revolver, being a three piece, were the "smallest" Shoegazing band. They released 3 brilliant EPs in 1991 and 1992, the first "45" with the "Heaven Sent An Angel", still one of the best songs from that era. The second one "Crimson" was equally good and the title song of the third "Venice" was pretty "hard-rock" for their standards.

They released a compilation album of the EPs "Baby´s Angry" and then disappeared, only to return a year later with the album "Cold Water Flat". The preceding single "Cradle Snatch" brought them into the crossfire of the press cos it ripped off the Verve a lot. The album, like most second albums of Shoegazing acts, was criminally ignored although it has some very very good songs on it.

They split up soon after that and singer Matt is now the bassist in Death In Vegas.

What the press said:

about Cold Water Flat, Select, June 1993: "Revolver should suprise a lot of people with the sheer guts and ambition of this debut album." 4 out of 5

Reading Festival review: MM "... quick, call the taste police ..."

Live Review, November 1991, MM: "Revolver are better than Blur. There´s really not a fat lot else to say about them right now."

Cold Water Flat Review, May 1993, MM: "The desired perfect pop effect is miraculously achieved."
