General Information

SR-71 is a "new" band from Baltimore, MD and they are great. Mitch Allan started the band. His first band was called World Orgin. That band broke up and he started a new band in 1990 called "Honor Among Thieves." This band was made up of Mitch (Guitar+Vocals), Dave Scherraga (Bass), Jim Wiley (Drums), and Seth Lankin (Lead Guitar). After a while Jim quit the band. The band started going through drummers every couple of months.

"Honor Among Thieves" was managed by Jack Dean who represented Childs Play Records. The band tried to get record deals but companies were not recruiting bands from the D.C. area. Mitch said he would move to NY and try to get the band signed by changing thier location. Seth and Dave did not want to do this and left the band and joined a band called "Bloom."

Mitch realized that there would be no reason in moving to New York because he didnt have a band anymore. So he joined the "Baltimore City All-Stars." Mitch and a man named Micky Cucchiella played and did lead vocals with him.

He recruited new members for a band and rebuilt "Honor Among Thieves." The members were Mitch Allan (Guitar+Vocals), George Bold (Guitar+Vocals), Jeff Reid (Bass), and Brian Gannon (Drums). As you can see, they had two lead vocalists so george and mitch would share singing songs. Brian needed to get surgery on his elbows so he couldn't continue as the drummer of the group. George then left and started his own band named ZOE or "Zen On Earth."

Mitch and Jeff now made up the band. Mark Beauchemin was an avid fan of the band and Mitch and Jeff recognized this and brought him into the band as guitarist and keyboardist. They also gained another member named Dan Garvin to play drums. The band went to Deep South Entertainment and signed on with them and changed thier name to "Radiostar".

The band played on the East Coast and got signed with RCA records. The band tried to go global since they had a major record label. They found another band caled "Radiostar" and changed thier name to SR-71.

They are currently touring around the eastern United States and Canada. I have seen them twice, at the start of thier tour at a concert called HFStival, and at the national Bar-B-Que in D.C. Each time they were great, and I was able to meet them at the BBQ. Thier hit song is called "Right Now" and most radio stations are able to play it so call in and ask for it!
