A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF EL CUARTO
lindsey´s cuarto is a corner room located on the first floor of the dorm,
above the cafeteria...which serves funky stuff such as conejo and other
nasty unidentified meats (they also don't believe in cold milk). since this
is a corner room, libby and lindsey do not have a balcony as the other
residents do. the beds are much like backboards, and the pillows are
without fluff. so lindsey has resorted to sleeping on her airplane pillow
bought from dulles airport. she looks like she is in a neckbrace on her
backboard.
PANTIES ALL IN A WAD
lindsey's travels are never less than exciting...so why would flying
internationally be any different? it started with her plane sitting on the
baltimore runway for 2.5 hours, which caused her to miss her connection to
madrid in atlanta. from there lindsey was rerouted to barcelona...again
another delayed flight causing her to again miss another connection to
madrid. once she made to madrid her bags were no where to be found!!! after
a good half hour of explaining in spanish where her bags started from and
how she got there, the airlines still had no idea where her bags were or
really how to find them, but they would try. they gave her a bag from the
airline.
"great, a bag!" lindsey thought, " with nothing to put in it!" later on in
the evening jacob and lindsey and some other students went to a bar in the
city called, "max max." lindsey sported a floral 70's looking top with some
stripped sandles because those were the only shoes she had. jacob made
friends with the bartender from the week before and managed to get lindsey a
free tshirt to sleep in.
after arriving home, lindsey and jacob decided to check out the iberia
flight bag-gift. inside they discovered a toothbrush, hairbrush, facewash
(no shampoo however) and a tshirt and shorts. then there was a tiny zip lock
bag a little over the size for drugs with something inside. jacob voted that
it was a hairnet. he took it out of the bag...and to jacob and lindsey's
surprise it was a papertowel style underwear!!! how beautiful! lindsey got
one of her bags the following morning and was not forced to wear the grandma
papertowel and they are now pinned up on the wall next to the telephone in
el cuarto!
BIPPITY BOPPITY BOO GOES BUMP IN THE NIGHT
libby arrived on the second day of the program. that night after going out
to a few bars, the two inhabitants retired to el cuarto for some rest on the
sweet sweet backboards. lindsey was all snug as a bug in a rug in her
neckbrace contraption when all of a sudden with a hippity hop libby jumps up
and seems to want to attack the ceiling. lindsey asks her what is wrong and
libby responds with the fact that lindsey will just simply not understand.
her arms are flailing around as she hippity hops around her backboard, eyes
focused on the ceiling at all times. she later claims that she thought i
threw a camera and it stuck to the ceiling and she was trying to get it
down....hmm...an interesting night in el cuarto for sure.
INTERNATIONAL NEWS
CHRISTMAS IN JULY
well libby has officially ruined lindsey's favorite drink: gin and tonic.
libby, jacob and lindsey were having a nice evening together enjoying tapas
y vino at a bar\restaurant called "capt morgans." they proceeded to go to
"max max" since it was libby's first night in valencia and she wanted to
check it out. lindsey got her usual gin and tonic and libby said, "eww how
can you drink that? gin tastes like christmas trees!" lindsey took another
sip and it DOES!!! she has been devestated ever since. little known fact:
gin is actually made with something from the fir tree.
NO PETS ON THE METRO
in valencia there is a tram, which is the trolley that one takes to the city
to catch the underground subway system. in the subway there is a sign that
says "normalities" in valenciano. under it there is a big picture in the
center with a man holding leash with a duck on it. apparently that is common
here. i have yet to see any pet ducks frolicking the streets, but will
report more on this later.
WEATHER COLD and RAINEY and MAD because lindsey has yet to see the beach! not to mention that it is national law that in this building they turn off the heat on april 1st until september 1st. this is to last through thursday.
SPANISH WORD OR PHRASE OF THE WEEK Manolo has taught me that chachi perluli means okey dokey. he laughs every time lindsey tries to say it.
TOOL TIME WITH JACOB COLLINS
here are some good quotes from our tool...jacob:
as libby, jacob and lindsey were looking up places to go this weekend jacob
informed them about southern spain...andalucía jacob said, "being the
faithful tool that i am, i have been looking at this website for the past
month and a half."
second good quote by jacob (all in the same ten minutes)after reading about
a small town called, "arcos,"...and said, "ohhh that means we won't be there
for the late night fun zone! mannnnn!" (to be said with great voice
inflection).
CRIME
no crime as of yet.
TRAVEL
this weekend lindsey is travelling somewhere south! need sun!!! arcos is too
far away as it is an 8 hr train ride to sevilla, then another hour bus ride
and so there is just not enough time right now since studies are keeping us
all here til friday morning instead of the usual thursday afternoon. jacob
is currently trying to sell libby and lindsey on málaga which in one travel
book is said to be the poorest city in spain. ummm...no. perhaps somewhere
near costa del sol. no plans set yet...
