The Club Badge

The symbolism behind the club badge

Club Badge
The club badge is made up of various integral elements.

The "Liver Bird" is an imaginary cross between an eagle and a cormorant. When Liverpool was granted city status by King John, the Liver Bird was used as a seal. Ever since, the Liver Bird has become a traditional symbol of the City of Liverpool and is therefore incorporated in to the badge of Liverpool Football Club.

In addition, "You'll Never Walk Alone" is the famous anthem of the Club. The current logo incorporates this motto along with a representation of the iron curlicues of the "Shankly Gates".

The flames are very symbolic and they honour the memories of the 96 Liverpool supporters who died at Hillsborough in 1989.
