A little bit about me: I began tattooing professionally in 1982. The tattoo world has changed considerably since I began tattooing. Styles have changed and it definitely has become more mainstream. I believe that getting a tattoo is a serious endeavor. I suppose it's because hindsite being 20/20 I've come to realize what a person thinks is a great tattoo design may become a stigma in their later years. "Think Ahead" before you get a Tattoo!
In 1973 I delved into amateur tattooing but tattooing was a pretty closed society and just finding a tattoo artist outside of a big city was rare, and tattooing wasn't legal in many places. I'd never been in a "real tattoo studio" until I was in the military in the mid 70's. That event brought me closer to what would be my dream job. In 1981 I started a very short term apprenticeship/partnership with a local artist, then striking off on my own in 1982. I worked for years independently and then in 1988 becoming a Mad Hatters Associate and working with Lou Robbins at his studio in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. I have tattooed at the annual Mad Hatters Tea Party and alot of major bike events ie. Am Jam, Harley Rendezvous and of course Daytona Bike Week. In 1989 I traveled to the UK and tattooed at Tattoo Expo in Dunstable. I have had my tattoo work featured in Tattoo magazine "Sept 92" and Tattoo Posterzine
My favorite work is freehand designs because it affords me the artistic license to be creative.
