My Dance Class Diary

Ok, this is my record of dance classes! Its cool...I hope! LOL. Just so you know, Dance classes on Thursdays in St. Petersburg are indicated with purple , Wednesday classes in Sarasota are dark cyan, Workshops are orange, and Saturday classes in Tampa are green.

September 9, 2000

Today we did all figures for the Oireachtas! I'm in a 4 hand and 8 hand and a 6 hand!!! We just did 4 hands and 8 hands today, though. I can't remember the name of our 8 hand is, but I know I like it! It's really pretty!!! Our 4 hand looks pretty nice too. :o)

August 7, 2000

Today was the first St. Pete class of the new season! We went over hornpipes for about an hour in this class...Man that one from last night is pretty tough! I luv it though! Then we went over Slip jigs for a while. Sheila says I need to have more energy...Isn't that the truth?! Also, Haley had an asthma attack and couldn't breath very well! It was so SCARY!!!! She caught her breath after a while but it was awful! I guess she knows to do her inhaler before she dances now!!!!

Today at class I went over hornpipes, light jigs, treble jigs, and single jigs with the beginners. WHEW...that was a workout! In my class we learned a great new hornpipe for the Oireachtas!! WooHooo! I needed one soo badly! It really rocks and has alot of need moves in it, almost like Lord of the Dance! Oh yeah, My friend Diana is back at dance class! YAY! She quit last year, but now she has time for it again and is back!

August 30, 2000

Class great tonight! I go an hour early now and help teach the beginners! They are sooooo cute!!!! :o) I was doing single jigs with them this week. My teacher came up with a bunch of new single jigs and they look really nice...too bad I don't do single jigs anymore!! LoL. Durring my class, We worked on Hornpipes the whole time! It was okay, but still fun.

YAY! I'm back in Class!!! Tonight was fun! I went early and helped teach the beginners singles jigs. Then in my class we worked on a treble Reel routine for a performance on Saturday! It's really nice! Theres alot of steps and its not just do the usual "triple step, step down the line, triple step!" I hope it goes well on Saturday! :o)

AUGUST- Butler School workshop with Tony Nolan-

YAY! I finnally have a new set for the Oireachtas! PLANXTY DRURY! Its so cool! I learned lots of new stuff from Tony this year! I can't wait till the Oireactas so I can do this dance!

JULY- Camp Rince Ceol:

This has to be one of the best summers ever because of camp! I LOVED it so much! Not only did I have great teachers from Riverdance (ex: PAT RODDY!) but the "camp" environment was great! I made so many new frends and we worked on lots of tequnique there! A+

JUNE- Gaelic Roots:

Wow! This year was great! I had class with Miceal Miguire in the Moirning and Katleen Maguire in the Afternoons! It was soo incredible! I even learned a slip jig that won the world campionships! :o)

OPPSIE! I took a break from my webpage to study for final exams at school! Then I had no Classes until July!

March 16, 2000

WHEW!~ Class was exausting tonight! We did reels and slip jig for the 1st half of class. For some reason I just could get through 2 and a half slip jigs! EWWW! I need to practice that! For the 2nd half of class we worked on the 3 Sea Captains ~my set dance for Prelims. Its soooooooooooo pretty! I hope that I do well in the next feis with it! Oh, and Sheila has a dress that I can borrow for the feis. Its purple velvet with pinkish lining...I haven't seen it, but it sounds pretty!

Well, we did a bunch of stuff to get ready for St. Paddy's Day! We did treble Reels, Jigs, the Fairy Reel, the 4 Hand reel, and some other stuff. It was pretty cool. We didn't learn anything new though.

Wahoooooo! I'm well enough to go to dance class! ...And I'm sooooo glad I am! We worked on a slip jig tonight. I dont really know how to explain what they are, sorry! LOL! OOOOOOh, I learned the step to Miss Brown's Fancy! :o) I luv that dance sooooooo much! In the next feis after April, I hope I can do Miss Brown's!

Ewwwwwwwwwwww! tonight I am home sick. I have some freaky stomach virus, or food poisoning. YUCKOS! I hope I can go to dance class tomarrow night!!!!!

Class was soooo cool tonight! We (as in me, Rayna, and my teacher Sheila) changed the 3 Sea Captains. It is sooooo great now! It has a lot of toe stands and twisiting heels now! I LOVE IT! ...and I'm sooooo glad we changed it becase I reeeeeeeeeeeeeeely needed a good set dance, since I'm going to be in prelims at the Southwest Florida Feis in April!

March 1st, 2000

We worked on the the Fairy Reel, Jigs, and other reels for St. Paddy's day shows. I'm looking forward to them. My first one of the 2000 "St. Patricks Day Season" is March 11! *Note: Figure dances with a broken wrist are NOT fun!*

February 24, 2000

I didn't do to class this Thursday. I had to go to an orchestra concert at school! It was cool. I wasn't in it because it was just the 8th grade orchestra, and the 11th/12th grade orchestras. (I'm in 8th grade but I'm in the freshmen orchestra) Rayna and my sister Allison were in it. Rayna is in the 8th grade orchestra, and Allison (who is a freshman) is in the 11th/12th grade orchestra.

We worked on treble reels the whole night tonight! I learned a new one that we are using for shows. We have a new group treble reel dance that we're going to be using in St. Patty's day shows alot this year. Its pretty cute!

We learned an awsome new slipjig tonight! I LUV IT....even though I loathe slip jigs! It has all of the super-cool stuff in it like birds and walk-it-backs and ...in the words of my friend Kelly... "wigadees!" Actually, I call them frillies. Its sorta like when u move your foot around from your ankle. I can't explain it! hehe!
