Questions for J. K. Rowling

This is a page for questions I'd like to ask or see asked of J. K. Rowling in one of the many on-line Chat Interviews with her, either because they might shed light on upcoming events in the series or, more often, just because I'd like to know if she's already thought of such a question and planned an answer. And if you hear of a chat interview with her coming up, let me know so we can submit the best of them in hopes that someday I'll be able to post some of her actual answers. Here goes:

* Is there something special in the wizarding world about socks?

* Will we ever learn more about the Grey Lady?

* Was the seemingly incorrect order James and Lily came out of Voldemort's wand really a mistake or a hint of further plot twists?

* In book four, "Hermione turned away, smiling at the horseless carriages that were now trundling toward them up the drive, as Krum, looking surprised but gratified, signed a fragment of parchment for Ron." (p. 725-726) At this point, Harry has already seen Cedric die. Why doesn't he notice now that there are suddenly horses pulling the previously horseless carriages? (Thanks to Alyssa for this great point!)

* Why didn't James' sacrifice protect both Harry and Lily?

* Is selection to Slytherin restricted to Purebloods only? Was Tom Riddle a Slytherin? (Thanks to Maeve for this insightful question!)

* Why do we never see an Astronomy lesson? Or a lesson with the Ravenclaws? Does Gryffindor have a lesson with the Ravenclaws?

* If there are about a thousand students at Hogwarts, are there more Gryffindors of Harry's year or do most houses and years have a proportionately far larger number of students?

* How come they only sing the Hogwarts song during Harry's first year?

* Has there ever been a funeral of the Potters and why does Harry never wonder about his parents' grave? (Thanks, Leonie!)

* Does transforming into an Animagus require a wand? Does your wand morph with you when you change?

* Which Hogwart's house were all the professors in?
