James Eddy Smelt Camps

James Eddy Smelt Camps, James Eddy Road Dresden, Maine

WE ARE NOT YET OPEN FOR THE 2016 SEASON** PLEASE NOTE THAT WE HAVE GONE BACK TO THE OLD PHONE NUMBER, 207-737-2596**

We are located on the Eastern River in Dresden, Maine and have been here for over 50 years.  We fish incoming and outgoing tides with two sets of camps.  We sell bait in the office, or you are free to bring your own.  Our very nominal fee includes the use of the camp, a kerosene heater filled with fuel, electricity, lines, hooks and sinkers; all you to bring is something to eat and drink. We have a Porta-Potty and a dumpster on the shore. We do ask that you leave the camp in the same condition that it was in when you got there, and know that you will be charged for any damage done.

We accept reservations for groups of all sizes, but for large groups (10 or more) we ask that you call at least 2 weeks in advance (especially if you want a weekend tide).  A deposit equal to half of the total price will need to be sent ahead of time to hold the camps for you. Then when you get here, you will need to pay the other half plus the bait (though most large groups pay for everyone upfront and then just buy their bait when they get here). Please note that we do not accept credit card payments so please come prepared with cash. If for some reason you need to cancel, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can re-rent the camps to others as there is always a waiting list.

UPDATE 1/20/16: We do not yet have enough ice yet to put camps out. Please follow us on our Facebook page for more frequent updates. PLEASE NOTE OUR NEW PHONE NUMBER AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE; WE HAVE GONE BACK TO USING 207-737-2596. We hope to see you soon.

Some things you might want to bring with you would be a good pair of ice cleats, some kind of light source such as a flashlight (especially for those who fish up around the corner!), a bucket to put your fish in, and a knife to cut up your bait. You would be surprised how many people do not bring buckets and/or knives with them.

Please find and "like" our page on Facebook for up-to-date info from us and our customers.
