Ninjutsu

I have been searching many years for the 'perfect' martial art. I studied karate many years ago (it was more of a self defense class). Since then, I have done research on different disciplines. Most of them were 'soft martial arts,' not using purely muscle for force. Some of these include tai chi, chi kung, ninpo, kung fu, etc. From all these I feel that ninpo, better known as ninjutsu, is the most well rounded. It seems as though it is a mixture of all the other disciplines.

Ninjutsu has been in existence for approximately 1000 years. It was created in the mountains of feudal Japan where people escaped to the mountains from tensions below. Ninjutsu was developed originally as a way to meld mind, body, and spirit. But as tensions rose in Japan, these skills were modified over many years into an elaborate way of survival.

This is just a basic, very basic, summary of the history of ninjutsu. For more information, check out books written by Stephen K. Hayes, and Masaaki Hatsumi (34th Grandmaster of Togakure Ryu Ninjutsu - which he teaches as Bujinkan ninpo).

Bujinkan has spread throughout the country and also the world. Dojos can be found all over, and all of them teach the same style of ninpo as the Grandmaster himself.

Stephen K. Hayes was the first American student of Grandmaster Hatsumi. Now, he has created his own discipline of martial arts - To-Shin Do. In basic terms, it is a modernized form of Bujinkan ninpo. It takes a lot of the old world teachings and applies them to modern life. However, very little is lost in the trasnformation.

Since I have yet to actually begin studying, I don't have a lot to offer this page immediately. However, I do have some links that can get you anywhere you need to go to research the subject of ninjutsu.

Are there any links not here that you would like to see?? If so, please email them to punchy98@hotmail.com
