BIO: Avery spent his first two seasons of pro hockey in the Motor City, playing in 36 games as a rookie with the Detroit Red Wings in 2001-02 and 39 games during the 2002-03 campaign in Detroit. After being dealt to the Los Angeles Kings during the ’02-03 season, Avery scored 28 points (9g, 19a) and racked up 261 penalty minutes in 76 games with the Kings last season.
Last Season
Split the season between Detroit and Grand Rapids (AHL) before being acquired by the Kings at the trade deadline 3/11/03…made his Kings debut 3/12/03 at Tampa Bay (no points)…scored his first goal as a King in his second game 3/14/03 at Washington in a 3-1 victory…played in 12 of the Kings final 13 regular season games missing one game, 3/27/03, at Colorado with a back strain…averaged 7:03 of ice time/game with Detroit and 13:50/game with the Kings…joined Manchester for the AHL playoffs at the conclusion of the Kings season.

2001-02:
In his first season as a pro spent the entire season with Cincinnati in the AHL…led the club in penalty minutes with 304 and ranked 6th in the AHL.
