MECHANICS ROUND UP OUTLAWS IN SHOOTOUT VICTORY!

12/18/2004

Kansas City, MO – The Motor City Mechanics reached several milestones tonight in their showdown with the Kansas City Outlaws. This was the first road victory in Mechanics franchise history as well as the first time the Mechanics have notched two wins in a row. And forward Joe Burton earned his 1,000th career point.
Burton opened up the scoring with a power play goal early in the second period. Chad Peck tallied a short handed goal, giving the Mechanics a 2-0 lead. The Outlaws tied the game but it was Peck with his second of the night, a power play goal, that gave the Mechanics a 3-2 lead. In the third period, Kansas City tied the game at three with just over four minutes left in the game.
The game remained in a 3-3 deadlock and the Mechanics went into their third shootout in as many games. It took eight rounds to decide the winner but it was Burton and Jason Norrie who were able to seal the win for Motor City. Burton is now four for four this season in shootouts. Goaltender Rod Branch made 33 saves between the pipes for the Mechanics.
Motor City will stay in Missouri tomorrow night for a game against the River Otters. The game will be broadcast on 1310 AM WXDX.
