Motor City Goes 3-1, Earns Six Points! Burton Scores 1,000th Point!
Fraser, MI – The Motor City Mechanics reached several milestones over the past week, including their first road win, forward Joe Burton’s 1,000th career point and three consecutive wins. After going 3-1 on the week and collecting six points, the Mechanics look forward to returning home on Wednesday to celebrate the holidays.

Wednesday, December 15th vs. Rockford 3-2 Shootout WIN:

The Mechanics jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first period on goals by David Bonk and Chad Peck. Burton assisted on Bonk’s goal to record his 999th career point. Rockford tied the game with a goal in the second and third periods to send the game into a shootout. This was the second shootout between the Mechanics and the IceHogs. Burton and Jeff Goldie each notched one for Motor City, while top-ranked Rockford was unable to solve Rod Branch. Branch made 42 saves in net for the Mechanics.

Friday, December 17th @ Kansas City 4-3 Shootout WIN:

In their very first road victory of the season, Burton gave the Mechanics a 1-0 lead with his 1,000th career point. With the game tied at two, Peck tallied his second of the evening on the powerplay to give the Mechanics a 3-2 advantage. But the Outlaws faught back and found the back of the net in the early going of the third period. Heading into their second shootout of the week, Burton and Jason Norrie each rattled one off, giving the Mechanics a 4-3 victory. Burton is now four for four in shootouts this season.

Saturday, December 18th @ Missouri 3-2 WIN:

Led by a pair of Jeff Goldie goals, the Mechanics scored their third consecutive victory on Saturday night in Missouri. Captain Blair Manning tallied two assists and goaltender Cory Campbell made 27 saves in net for his fist win as a Mechanic.

Sunday, December 19th @ Rockford 3-1 Loss:

In their fourth game in just five days, the Mechanics fell 3-1 at the hands of the IceHogs. Down 3-0 heading into the third period, Brandon Fleenor scored his first goal of the season to prevent the shutout, on assists by rookies Bonk and Matt Hunter.

The Motor City Mechanics will be at the Macomb Mall on Tuesday, December 21st from 1-4pm wrapping gifts. Come meet the team, get autographs, and get your holiday gifts wrapped.

Celebrate The Holidays With Karen Newman:

The Mechanics welcome Karen Newman back to The Garage this Wednesday, December 22nd when they face the Port Huron Beacons at 7:30 pm. Karen will perform the National Anthem and the first 1,000 fans will receive free holiday ornaments courtesy of LDMI. The game will be broadcast on 1310 AM WXDX. This will be the fourth meeting between these two team so far this season.

Meet Spongebob and Dora:

Meet Spongebob Squrepants and Dora The Explorer at the Mechanics game on December 29th. The Mechanics take on the Kalamazoo wings at 7:30 pm.

1,000 Point Plateau:

With over 12 years of professional hockey experience, right wing Burton reached a milestone this weekend with the Mechanics. The 1,000 point mark. With 573 goals and 427 careers assists, Burton scored point 999 on an assist against Rockford on Wednesday and point 1,000 with a goal at Kansas City on Friday. This season, Burton is currently second on the Mechanics in scoring (8g, 7a – 15pts).
