Motor City Drops 6-4 Decision To Port Huron
Fraser, MI – After coming off a three win week, the Mechanics dropped a 6-4 decision at home against the Port Huron Beacons.
Gabriel Proulx opened up the scoring six minutes into the contest, when he put one past Mechanics netminder Rod Branch, giving the Beacons a 1-0 lead. The Beacons jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a powerplay marker from Jason Firth but the Mechanics fought back. Jeff Goldie notched two, one at even strength and one with the man advantage to tie the game heading into the second period.
Rookie David Bonk picked up his fifth goal of the season to boost the Mechanics to a 3-2 advantage. Port Huron tied the game at three apiece at 15:02 of the second.
The Beacons scored two more goals to take a 5-3 lead, but Joe Burton brought the Mechanics back within one at the halfway mark. David Beauregard scored his second of the evening to wrap the game up at 6-4. Branch made 30 saves in goal for the Mechanics.
Following a holiday break, the Mechanics will play in Flint on Sunday at 4:05 pm. Tune in to 1310 AM WXDX beginning at 3:50 for the pre-game show.
