MECHANICS OUTSHOOT DEFENDING CHAMPS 43-19; FALL 3-1

Fraser, MI – The Motor City Mechanics outshot the defending Colonial Cup Champion Muskegon Fury 43-19 but suffered a 3-1 loss.
Muskegon dominated the first period, scoring three goals, including one shorthanded to take a commanding 3-0 lead. Jeff Nelson, Todd Robinson and B.J. Gaustad each found the back of the net for the Fury in the first period.
In the second period, Mechanics defenseman Kyle Kos was able to solve Fury netminder Sylvain Daigle, on an assist from David Bonk to bring the score to 3-1. Two Motor City goals were waved off, the first scored by Rick Smith was waved off for a delayed penalty call on the Mechanics and the second, scored by Sean Avery, was waved off due to the puck being tapped in by a high stick. One Muskegon goal was waved off because the puck was ruled to have been kicked in the net. The Fury held on for the 3-1 win.
The Mechanics play at home tomorrow, Sunday, February 13th against the Port Huron Beacons at 5:00pm. On Wednesday, February 16th, Motor City will host the Richmond RiverDogs at 7:30pm before heading East to Danbury, CT for games against the Danbury Trashers next weekend.
