MECHANICS FALL 6-5 IN DRAMATIC SHOOTOUT

Fraser, MI – The Motor City Mechanics dropped a dramatic 6-5 shootout loss to the Missouri River Otters at home Sunday.
David Bonk put the Mechanics on the board first, scoring at 12:47 of the first period and drawing assists from Derian Hatcher and Blair Manning. George Cantrall of Missouri tied the game three minutes later. Jason Reimers scored his first goal of the season just 17 seconds later to give Motor City a 2-1 lead heading into the second period.
In the second frame, Frank Littlejohn scored his first of two to knot the game. Rick Smith answered at the 2:10 mark to put the Mechanics ahead once again. Jim Montgomery and Lars Petterson each scored for the River Otters, taking a 4-3 lead. Reimers found the back of the net for the second time tonight at 13:57.
With the game even at four apiece, Littlejohn scored his second of the night give Missouri their second lead of the evening. Joe Burton scored at 16:59, assisted from Reimers and Chris Chelios to tie the game. In the shootout, Montgomery, Barrie Moore and Riku Varjamo scored for the River Otters, while only Manning and Burton found the back of the net for the Mechanics.
The Mechanics host two games at home next weekend. Friday March 4th, the Quad City Mallards fly into town for a 7:30pm game. On Saturday March 5th, the River Otters return to The Garage. Game time is 7:30pm and Saturday night will feature Bryan Smolinski poster night! And on Sunday, March 5th, the Mechanics head to Flint to face the Generals.
