FRASER, MI - The Motor City Mechanics scored first but were unable to fend off the Kalamazoo Wings Saturday night. The K-Wings took scored four unanswered goals to net a 4-1 win.
On a shorthanded breakaway, Joe Burton gave Motor City a 1-0 lead at 11:55 of the first period. Midway through the second period, Mechanics netminder Cory Campbell stuffed Tom Ditzer on a breakaway to keep Kalamazoo off the board.
The Wings found the back of the net late in the second period on a goal by Mike Manley to tie the game at one. It was all K-Wings from that point on, scoring three more unanswered goals, including one on the powerplay and an empty netter to secure a 4-1 win. Kevin Kotyluk, Kevin Holdridge and Tim Turner each scored for Kalamazoo. In goal, Campbell made 29 saves for Motor City, while former Michigan State standout Chad Alban made 30 saves between the pipes for the Wings.
