Mechanics Collect Two Points
Fraser, MI – The Motor City Mechanics earned a victory over the Richmond RiverDogs this week on an Eastern road swing, before dropping two straight to the Adirondack Frostbite.

Friday, January 21st @ Richmond 5-4 WIN:

The Mechanics tallied three powerplay goals en route to a 5-4 victory over the Richmond RiverDogs on Friday night. Captain Blair Manning contributed a goal and two assists, while Joe Burton tallied two goals and one assist. Kyle Kos added two assists and rookies Matt Hunter and David Bonk each scored for Motor City. The Mechanics outshot Richmond 45-31.

Saturday, January 22nd @ Adirondack 3-0 Loss:

After a scoreless first period, Adirondack took control, netting two goals in the second frame, including one with the man advantage. With 23 seconds remaining in the third period, the Frostbite scored an empty netter for the 3-0 win.

Sunday, January 23rd @ Adirondack 6-3 Loss:

Veteran Joe Burton gave the Mechanics a 1-0 just 1:33 into the game. Adirondack evened things up but defenseman Kyle Kos gave Motor City a 2-1 advantage at 6:52. The Frostbite scored two more first period goals to take a 3-2 lead heading into the second period. Adirondack notched two second period goals, increasing their lead to 5-2. Kos found the back of the net on a powerplay strike in the third period but Adirondack held on for the 6-3 win.

UP NEXT:

The Mechanics return home to The Garage to battle the Fort Wayne Komets on Friday, January 28th at 7:30pm. In their last meeting, Motor City defeated the top-ranked Komets in Fort Wayne 4-2. On Saturday, the Mechanics hit the road once again to visit the Muskegon Fury. The Mechanics are looking for their first win against Muskegon this season. On Sunday January 30th, Motor City hockey heads home to take on the Kalamazoo Wings. The Wings defeated the Mechanics in a shootout when they met two weeks ago.

UHL All-Star Classic TONIGHT:

Tonight will feature Mechanics defenseman Kevin Hansen in the UHL All-Star Classic in Glens Falls, NY. Hansen is making his first career All-Star appearance. Prior to the game, Mechanics Head Coach Garry Unger will participate in the Alumni Game. The Alumni Game begins at 6:00pm, while game time for the All-Star Classic is 7:45pm and can be seen live on the UHL website via B2 Networking.

Skate With The Mechanics THURSDAY:

Campus Martius Park, the outdoor skating rink in downtown Detroit, is hosting the Motor City Mechanics for a public skate and meet and greet on January 27th from 7-9pm. Campus Martius is located on Woodward Avenue between Fort St. and Michigan Avenue. Be sure to bundle up and come skate with your favorite Motor City players on Thursday, January 27th.

Children’s Hospital Visit:

Several Mechanics players will visit the Children’s Hospital in downtown Detroit on Thursday, January 27th from 1-4pm. Players will visit with kids in the “no poke room” and be interviewed by the children. The “no poke room” is the room where no doctors are allowed, it is the “safe haven” within the hospital for the kids. And for children who are too sick to leave their rooms, they can ask Mechanics players questions over a cable TV network. In addition, the money that was raised over the holidays from the Mechanics jersey auction will be presented in check form on Thursday.

Guns v. Hoses:

The Motor City Mechanics are proud to host the 1st Annual Guns vs. Hoses charity hockey game. The Macomb County Sheriffs Department and Fraser Fire Department will battle it out on the ice at 5:00 pm on January 28th prior to the Mechanics home game against Fort Wayne. A portion of the ticket proceeds will benefit each respective organizations Honor Guard. Tickets purchased for the Mechanics game at 7:30pm will also be valid for entry into the Guns vs. Hoses hockey game.

Mini-Mite All-Stars:

The Mechanics and 106.7 The Drive are hosting a Mini-Mite All-Star game during the Mechanics game on Friday, January 28th. If you think your mini-mite has what it takes, check out www.1067thedrive or www.motorcitymechanics.com.

Kevin Hansen All-Star Poster Give Away:

On January 28th the Mechanics will be giving away 2,000 Pepsi All-Star posters featuring defenseman Kevin Hansen. Stick around after the game for an autograph session on the concourse with Hansen.

NASCAR Night and Carl Edwards:

Ladies and Gentleman, start your engines! The Motor City Mechanics are pleased to announce that Roush Racing star Carl Edwards will be at The Garage on January 30th when the Mechanics host the Kalamazoo Wings at 5:00pm. Edwards, driver of the number 99 Office Depot Ford, will be available for autographs beginning at 4:00pm and will drop the ceremonial first puck.

Radio Schedule Change:

The Mechanics will no longer be broadcasting home games on the radio. Fans can still catch all home games on the internet through www.mechanicsradio.com and all road games via the internet and 1310 AM WXDX.
Game Time Change: The Motor City Mechanics would like to announce that all Sunday games remaining this season have been changed from 7:30pm to 5:00 pm.
