Motor City Drops 5-0 Decision At Home
Fraser, MI – The Motor City Mechanics fell victim to Brent Gretzky (2g, 2a) and the top ranked Danbury Trashers tonight at The Garage, falling 5-0.
Gretzky netted a powerplay goal midway through the first period to give Danbury a 1-0 lead. Gretzky tallied his second of the game, a shorthanded goal, early in the second period, followed nine minutes later by Mike Bayrack on the powerplay giving the Trashers a 3-0 edge.
Once again, Danbury struck on the powerplay 8:11 into the third when Bruce Richardson found the back of the net. With just over three minutes remaining in the contest, Doug Christiansen gave the Trashers their final goal of the evening, wrapping up the 5-0 win. In goal, Motor City netminder Rod Branch made 34 saves, while Scott Stirling stopped all 33 shots he faced in net for Danbury.
Be sure to join the Mechanics at home tomorrow, Saturday January 8th when they host the Port Huron Beacons. Karen Newman and Elvis will both be at the game and the Mechanics along with Bob Neugebauer Travel will give away a trip for two to Las Vegas during Chuck-A-Puck. The Mechanics will also host a 5:00 pm game on Sunday, January 9th against defending Colonial Cup champs Muskegon.
