March 21, 2005 - Fraser, MI – The United Hockey League announced Monday that Motor City Mechanics veteran forward Bryan Smolinski has been named the Sher-Wood Player of the Week. Smolinski netted 11 points in four games as the Mechanics went 3-1 this week.
The Toledo, OH native and former Ottawa Senator tallied five points (1g, 4a) in Wednesday’s 6-1 victory at Port Huron. On Friday night, Smolinski scored the game winning goal with just 1:10 remaining in the game against the top ranked Adirondack Frostbite. In Saturday’s 10-2 route of Richmond, Smolinski pulled out another five point night (1g, 4a), helping the Mechanics roll to their sixth straight win. Smolinski was +6 over the week and currently has 25 points (7g, 18a) in 15 games with the Mechanics this season.
This is the second time this season a Mechanic has been awarded these honors. Captain Blair Manning was named Player of the Week on February 28th.
