GENERALS FALL TO MECHANICS; HATCHER NETS GAME WINNER

March 23, 2005 - Flint, MI - The Motor City Mechanics started their four game road trip with a 4-1 win in Flint tonight. Derian Hatcher notched the game winner on the power play goal midway through the second period. With the win, the Mechanics are now 7-1 in their last eight games.
Flint jumped out to a 1-0 lead early in the first period on a goal by Mike Kinnie. The Mechanics tied the game at one midway through the second frame when Joe Burton found the back of the net. Hatcher scored on the power play just two minutes later for the go ahead goal. The Mechanics held on to the 2-1 lead through the remainder of the second period.
At the 16:40 mark of the third, newcomer David Ambler scored to boost Motor City’s lead to 3-1. Matt Hunter added an insurance goal with 15 seconds remaining in the game for the 4-1 victory. Burton notched a goal and an assist for the Mechanics and captain Blair Manning netted two assists tonight. In goal, Rod Branch made 20 saves for the Mechanics, while Nathan Grobins stopped 36 shots between the pipes for Flint.
The Mechanics continue on their road trip, playing in Adirondack, Danbury and Elmira over the weekend. Motor City hockey returns to The Garage for the final home stand of the season. The Mechanics are home March 30th, April 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 6th. TICKETS ARE STILL AVAILABLE!
