March 27, 2005 - Elmira, NY – The Motor City Mechanics took down the Elmira Jackals 4-1 tonight to complete their first perfect week in franchise history. The Mechanics went 4-0 this week, winning all four games on the road, and improved to 10-1-0 in their last 11 games.
Joe Burton gave the Mechanics a 1-0 lead just 2:39 into the game on a shorthanded goal. Rookie Matt Hunter found the back of the net midway through the second period, boosting the Mechanics lead to 2-0. Elmira’s George Pujacs scored shorthanded to close the gap to one but Rick Smith tallied a powerplay strike to give Motor City a 3-1 lead heading into the third period.
In the third period, Ryan Baker slipped one in, drawing assists from Chris Gignac and David Ambler for the 4-1 final. Burton netted a goal and two assists, while Gignac and Blair Manning each tallied a pair of assists on the night.
Motor City hockey returns to The Garage for the final home stand of the season. The Mechanics are home March 30th, April 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 6th. TICKETS ARE STILL AVAILABLE!
