AVERY TRICKS OTTERS AS MECHANICS EARN 20TH WIN!

March 5, 2005 - Fraser, MI - Sean Avery scored a hat trick as the Motor City Mechanics notched their 20th win of the season, a 3-1 victory over the Missouri River Otters at The Garage.
Avery put Motor City on the board with a short handed goal at 16:15 of the first period. The River Otters answered quickly, finding the back of the net on a powerplay strike just 30 seconds later.
With the game tied at one, Avery scored his second of the night at the 4:01 mark of the second period. Avery scored goal number three just two minutes later. Goaltender Rod Branch put in a solid performance in net, knocking away 35 of 36 shots. Bryan Smolinski added three assists on the night, while Chris Chelios dished out two helpers. Kevin Reiter made 31 saves in goal for Missouri.
The Mechanics travel to Flint tomorrow to battle the Generals at 4:00pm. March 12th, Motor City visits the Kalamazoo Wings. The Mechanics host a home weekend March 18th, 19th and 20th. Tickets are still available!
