Fraser, MI – The Motor City Mechanics collected two points this past week and brought a nine game losing skid to a close.
Wednesday, November 24th @ Flint 5-1, L
Kyle Kos tied the game at one with seven seconds remaining in the first period. The game remained at a deadlock until the final two minutes of the second period when the Generals took a 2-1 lead. Flint exploded for three third period goals for the 5-1 final. In goal, Rod Branch made 25 saves for the Mechanics
Friday, November 26th vs. Quad City 4-2, W
Led by a Joe Burton hat trick, the Mechanics stopped a nine game winless streak and collected two points in their win over the Quad City Mallards on Friday night. The Mallards opened up the scoring but the Mechanics quickly tied it up with Burton’s first goal of the evening. Burton tallied two more to give the Mechanics a 3-1 lead before Jason Deskins brought Quad City to within one. Matt Hunter added an insurance early in the third period for the final 4-2 Mechanics victory. Branch made 34 saves in net for the Mechanics.
Saturday, November 27th @ Port Huron 6-2, L
In their third meeting of the season with the Beacons, the Mechanics took an early 1-0 lead on a goal by Blair Manning but Port Huron tied the game just 17 seconds later. The Beacons took control of the game, scoring four more goals before Mechanics defenseman Kevin Hansen found the back of the net at 13:21 of the third period. Port Huron followed with one more for the 6-2 win. Between the pipes, Cory Campbell made his second start as a Mechanic, making 29 saves.
Sunday, November 28th vs. Adirondack 2-0, L
Despite out shooting the Frostbite 29-26 and holding them 0/6 on the power play, the Mechanics suffered a 2-0 shut out. The game remained scoreless until Adirondack stuffed one home half way through the third period. Less than a minute later, the Frostbite lifted another one past Branch for the victory.
Up Next
The Mechanics will play at home on Friday, December 3rd when they host the Fort Wayne Komets for the first time this season. On Saturday, December 4th the Mechanics will face off against Rockford at The Garage. Both games begin at 7:30pm and will be broadcast on 1310 AM WXDX.
Long Sleeved T-Shirt Night
The first 1,000 fans through the doors for Friday’s game will receive free long sleeve t-shirts courtesy of WYCD and Dr. Matoshko.
Teddy Bear Toss and Jersey Auction to Benefit Children’s Hospital
Saturday’s game will feature a Teddy Bear Toss. When the Mechanics score their first goal of the night, toss your new stuffed animal onto the ice. The animals will be donated to Children’s Hospital during the holiday season. There will be a post-game jersey auction on the concourse also benefiting Children’s Hospital.

Burton’s Hot
Motor City Mechanics forward and Garden City, Michigan native Joe Burton has notched 10 points in 12 games during the month of November. Burton tallied one shoot out goal on November 19th vs. Quad City and a hat trick on November 26th vs. Quad City. He has collected only two penalty minutes during those 12 games.
