MOTOR CITY SUFFERS SECOND PRE-SEASON LOSS

Muskegon, MI - The Motor City Mechanics visited the LC Walker Arena in Muskegon, MI tonight for their second pre-season challenge against the Fury. Muskegon defeated the Mechanics 6-1 in front of 3,031 fans.
The Fury opened up the scoring at 12:10 of the first period when Scott Hollis beat Motor City net minder Chad Collins on the glove side. Hollis took a feed from Jeff Nelson on a 2 on 1 break to give Muskegon the 1-0 lead. The Mechanics tied the game with three minutes remaining in the first period when Brett Stephens slipped the puck between the legs of Fury goaltender Brent Belecki.
Hollis picked up his second goal of the evening when he scored at the 2:30 mark of the second period to break the tie. Muskegon took a 3-1 lead half way through the period on a goal from Todd Robinson. Tyson Motz took over between the pipes for the Mechanics and finished out the period.
The Mechanics opened the third period on the power play but were unable to convert. Motor City forward Matt Hunter clanged one off the cross bar before the Fury took a 4-1 lead off a Billy Collins goal at 2:37. Rustyn Dolyny increased the Fury's lead just four minutes later and David Ambler made it 6-1 with a one-timer from the slot at 9:56 of the third.
Collins and Motz combined for 23 saves in goal for the Mechanics, while Beleck had 15 saves in goal for the Fury. Hollis picked up two goals and one assist on the night for Muskegon. Stephens picked up the lone Mechanics goal on assists from Jesse Davis and Hunter.
The Mechanics open the regular season next Friday, October 15th against Kalamazoo at the Great Lakes Sports City Arena in Fraser, MI. Doors open at 6:00 pm.
