Seroski Nets Hat Trick For Kansas City
Fraser, MI - The Motor City Mechanics played their second game on home ice tonight before 1,222 fans and suffered a 4-3 loss.
The Outlaws opened up the scoring just 5:12 into the first period on an unassisted goal from George Davis. Three minutes later, the Mechanics earned their first power play goal of the season and tied the game at one apiece. Jeff Goldie flipped one past Kansas City goaltender Maxime Gingras for his first goal of the year. The Outlaws took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission after Joe Seroski put the puck past Mechanics netminder Rod Branch with just over one minute remaining.
Goldie picked up his second goal of the night on a pass from Blair Manning to tie the game at two early in the second period. Kansas City took the lead again when Seroski took advantage of a Mechanics slashing penalty to David Bonk. Manning scored his second goal of the season to tie the game half way through the second on an assist from Kyle Kos and Branch.
Heading into the third period with a 3-3 tie, Seroski put the Outlaws back on top with his third goal of the night, recording his first hat trick of the season. Despite pulling Branch in the final minute of play, the Mechanics couldn't muster enough offense for the tie. Kansas City came away with the 4-3 victory.
In goal, Branch made 35 saves for the Mechanics while Gingras stopped 20 in net for the Outlaws. Kansas City improved to 3-0 as the Mechanics fell to an 0-3 record.
The Mechanics hit the road this weekend for games against Rockford and Missouri tomorrow and Sunday respectively. They return home for a hockey hat trick Halloween weekend against Flint, Rockford and Port Huron.
