Cro-Magnon Man and the Bible:
A true human, and post-flood descendant of Noah Cro-Magnon

The name: "Cro-Magnon" comes from "Abri Cro-Magnon", Les Eyzies, France where the remains were found. ("From Lucy to Language" by Donald Johanson, and Blake Edgar, pg )

"Magnon" is pronounced almost like "mignon" in filet mignon. ("Buried Alive" by Dr. Jack Cuozzo, pg 288.)

"Cro-Magnon man" is represented by the remains of five individuals found in March of 1868. The remains were those of 3 adult males, 1 adult female, and one infant. ("From Lucy to Language" by Donald Johanson, and Blake Edgar, pg )

Discoverers

The bodies of the "Cro-Magnon" people were discovered by Louis Lartet and Henry Christy in March of 1868 ("From Lucy to Language" by Donald Johanson, and Blake Edgar, pg )

Evolutionists claim these remains are from 30 to 32,000 years old. ("From Lucy to Language" by Donald Johanson, and Blake Edgar, pg ). However, these remains better fit the time frame after the flood, about 4,400 years ago.

Question:
"I was wondering what the appearance of the Cro-Magnon was. And what food they ate, and what they used for shelter? Also how and what did they use their tools for. Thank you!
Leona, 9/23/01

Cro-Magnon man was a true human and looked just like you and I. They ate vegetation and meat, and hunted many animals. They had a culture not unlike our own. Cro-Magnon man not only used sophisticated tools, but also used fire.

Scientists have argued amongst themselves over what to do with Cro-Magnon man.

Was he an ape-man? A true man? Did he evolve from the Neanderthals? Did he evolve into Homo sapiens?

"Cro-Magnon Man" is just like you and I. He is not an evolutionary ancestor at all, but a true human.

Question: "Where did Cro-Magnon come from? There were Neanderthals for thousands of years, then here comes Cro-Magnon out of the blue. Thus ending the Neanderthal man soon after.
Thanks, Sharon 3/31/01

Answer:
Cro-Magnon were fully human descendants of Adam and Eve, just as the Neanderthals were. They did not kill off the Neanderthals, as some have proposed, but replaced them in the sense that as time went on, people did not live as long as they once had. The same bony changes that occurred in Neanderthals in old age, would have occurred in Cro-Magnon, but not to as great of an extent. This is because they never lived long enough for these bone growths to occur. Cro-Magnon is a direct descendant of the Neanderthals, not a separate species of man. The process that shortened the life span of man had sped up considerably after the flood. Neanderthals were people who lived before and shortly after the flood. The life spans of humans dropped directly after the flood. Cro-Magnon were simply humans who did not live as long as the Neanderthals.

Museums sometimes portray Cro-Magnon man as more primitive than we are, but this is not true.

Cro-Magnon man is fully human

The Cro-Magnon man remains qualify for true human status based on their physical morphology, their brain size, and their culture.

The skeletons erroneously labeled "Neanderthal" and "Cro-Magnon", are all fully human. I believe that their remains represent the descendants of Noah, living in a harsh new world after the flood.

This picture is how many Scientists now picture Cro-Magnon man. They realize that he was fully human, and give him a more intelligent, noble posture.

Though they were distinct in a number of ways, no one doubts that the Cro-Magnon's were anatomically modern humans. (pg 271 "Encyclopedia of Human Evolution and Prehistory" by Ian Tattersall, Eric Delson, John Van Couvering).

Picture of the Cro-Magnon 1 skull.

Though it looks a little bit odd, the abnormalities are not because it was an ape man. But were caused by a fungal infection. ("From Lucy to Language" by Donald Johanson, and Blake Edgar, pg )

The most complete skull is Cro-Magnon 1. It belongs to an adult male. It is nicknamed the "Old Man" of Cro-Magnon, though Vallois (1937) attributes the skull to a man of approximately 50 years of age "Guide to fossil man: A handbook of Human Palaeontology" pg 48-51, by Michael Day, 1965, The World Publishing company, Cleveland and New York).

Due to the different rates of maturation of the Biblical Patriarchs (Neanderthals) this age would also need to be adjusted to a rate in between that of Neanderthals and present day Homo sapiens (see "Buried Alive").

Cro-Magnon 1 is an almost complete skull. It lacks only the dentition, and the mandibular condyles.
"Guide to fossil man: A handbook of Human Palaeontology" pg 48-51, by Michael Day, 1965, The World Publishing company, Cleveland and New York)

Actinomycosis

The abnormalities in Cro-Magnon 1 can be attributed to pathology. Actinomycosis, sometimes called "lumpy jaw" is caused by a bacteria in the face. A fungal infection by Actinomyces israeli appears to have corroded the face of Cro-Magnon 1. "Guide to fossil man: A handbook of Human Palaeontology" pg 47, by Michael Day, 1965, The World Publishing company, Cleveland and New York)

The introduction this fungus can occur from trauma, infection or surgery.
(Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary, 13'th Edition, F.A. Davis Co, Philadelphia 1977).

Though Neanderthals were practiced a form of dentistry (which evolutionists will not acknowledge, see pg 41-2 "Buried Alive" by Dr. Jack Cuozzo), and cared for their sick, no evolutionist would ever want to admit Cro-Magnon could have practiced such an advanced form of medicine.

Actinomycosis becomes localized in the face and jaw, but can also spread to the chest and lungs.

Long term treatment with antibiotics is often required.

Treatment for actinomyces is long term, with 1 to 2 months of penicillin given through a vein, followed by 6 to 12 months of penicillin taken by mouth.

Cro-Magnon burials

Cro-Magnon man showed an understanding of an after life - because they buried their dead in ways that we do today.

These people knew of God and of God's provisions and also of his promise to open heavens gates to those who loved him.

"The bodies apparently had been deliberately buried in a single grave, along with body adornments: pierced shells and animal teeth that had probably been worn as necklaces or pendants. Bones from reindeer, bison, woolly mammoth, and other mammals and stone blades and knives belonging to the Aurignacian industry (the earliest style of Upper Paleolithic tools) completed the trove, which geologist Louis Lartet and banker Henry Christy excavated at the rock shelter. These men sorted and studied the human bones that had been removed and inadvertently scrambled by the railway workers."
("From Lucy to Language" by Donald Johanson, and Blake Edgar, pg )

Post-flood migration

The Cro-Magnon remains were found in France, how far was this from the ark? From Neanderthal sites?

Found during the construction of a railroad. the site is a Cretaceous limestone cliff (again, a cave site like this is possible only after the flood). the shelter had been obscured by rocks and debris. 5 adult skeletons were found at the back of the shelter. Some fragmentary infant and fetal bones were also found. All had been deliberately buried.
"Guide to fossil man: A handbook of Human Palaeontology" pg 48-51, by Michael Day, 1965, The World Publishing company, Cleveland and New York)

Tools

flint tools have been found associated with the skeletons. pierced seas shells were also found. Most likely the remains of jewelry.
"Guide to fossil man: A handbook of Human Palaeontology" pg 48-51, by Michael Day, 1965, The World Publishing company, Cleveland and New York)

Where are the other skulls?

It is not uncommon for the most complete specimen (in this case the skull of Cro-Magnon 1) at a site to receive the most attention, but the lack of even the most basic / miniscule info on the remaining 4 skeletons in the popular press must be examined.

Do these bones reveal something about Cro-Magnon (and Neanderthal) morphology that they do not want generally known?

We know that 5 other skeletons exist
"Guide to fossil man: A handbook of Human Palaeontology" pg 48-51, by Michael Day, 1965, The World Publishing company, Cleveland and New York)
Where are they?

Dr. Cuozzo looked for the remains of the 5 Cro-Magnon individuals in the Muse'e de l'Homme in Paris but was only able to find the skull of Cro-Magnon 1. A further search revealed that 2 other partial Cro-Magnon skulls were not in the drawer in which they belonged (pg 288, "Buried Alive"). Where are the other 2 skulls? Where are the skeletons that everyone says exist?

A few sources I found which speak of these remains in detail are:

Jones, T.R. 1868. "On the human skulls and bones found in the cave of Cro-Magnon, near Les Eyzies." In Reliquiae aquitanicae.

Cranial capacity

Dr. Cuozzo also believes the cranial capacity for Cro-Magnon 1 has been exaggerated. (pg 288, "Buried Alive").

Where are the teeth?

It is strange that teeth, the most abundant material in the fossil record would be absent from this skull. True, the teeth of many specimens may fall out post-mortem, but they are usually recovered from the surrounding soil. The teeth do not appear to have been lost during life, as there is no _____. Were these teeth recovered and discarded? What about the other 4 skulls? Are we to believe they lacked their dentition also? If not, why is a description the teeth of these individuals included as a post script to descriptions of Cro-Magnon 1?
"Guide to fossil man: A handbook of Human Palaeontology" pg 48-51, by Michael Day, 1965, The World Publishing company, Cleveland and New York)

Crushed Orbits

Cro-Magnon 1 has a steep forehead and eye orbits that are compressed and rectangular in shape. What is the cause of this?
"Guide to fossil man: A handbook of Human Palaeontology" pg 48-51, by Michael Day, 1965, The World Publishing company, Cleveland and New York)

This skull lacks the large brow ridge of (really) old Neanderthals, and also exhibits the narrow nasal opening associated with a younger individual (the nasal opening of humans widens with great age)
"Guide to fossil man: A handbook of Human Palaeontology" pg 48-51, by Michael Day, 1965, The World Publishing company, Cleveland and New York)

Stature

The associated limb bones suggest that Cro-Magnon 1 was tall and muscular. The face is broad and short.
"Guide to fossil man: A handbook of Human Palaeontology" pg 48-51, by Michael Day, 1965, The World Publishing company, Cleveland and New York)

The body proportions of Cro-Magnon man was different than that of Neanderthals. The lower portions of Cro-Magnon arms and legs were elongated compared with the upper parts. Neanderthals on the other hand were shortened. (pg 272 "Encyclopedia of Human Evolution and Prehistory" by Ian Tattersall, Eric Delson, John Van Couvering).

This pattern is characteristic of warm adapted populations in modern day people. It may be that Cro-Magnon man lived in the time after the Ice Age (which itself occurred as a result of the flood. See chapter _).

Cranial Capacity

the cranial capacity for Cro-Magnon 1 is 1,590 cc The originals are stored in the Musee de l'Homme, Paris.
"Guide to fossil man: A handbook of Human Palaeontology" pg 48-51, by Michael Day, 1965, The World Publishing company, Cleveland and New York)

Cro-Magnon Art

Many cave paintings have been attributed to Cro-Magnon man. These paintings show the type of animals that lived alongside him, and those he hunted. These include: mammoths, antelope, bison, oxen and horses. ("Life" by Richard Fortey)

Neither Neanderthal man nor Cro-Magnon man could have lived before Adam and Eve, as both are true humans, and both wore furs, which can only come from animals. No human or animal died before Adam sinned.

Cro-Magnon man is often shown in long furs. There is nothing primitive about this, as many cultures today wear furs.

The feet of Cro magnon man

"The Cro-Magnons were not the lurching sub humans of the comic strips. They were men like us, men who could paint beautiful pictures and presumably could think complex thoughts, men with the beginnings of religious beliefs, men who routinely made a variety of useful stone tools and clearly had an elaborate culture, in many respects more sophisticated than some of the so-called "savage" cultures found in isolated parts of the earth today."
(pg 29-30, "Lucy the Beginnings of Human kind" by Donald Johanson).

Rather than having the beginnings of religious beliefs, I think Cro-Magnons had the beliefs of Noah passed down to them.

Broca and Cro-Magnon

"As for me.... I would much rather be a perfected ape than a degraded Adam." Paul Broca
(1870, Cuozzo pg 101, When Christians roamed the earth" quoted from Trinkaus and Shipman "The Neandertals" pg 103)

What Broca is saying is that he would rather be related to an ape that became "perfect" (i.e. human) through evolution, than Created by God, and related to Adam, the first man who has since tarnished us all ("degraded") through his sin.

It seems impossible for Broca's view not to have influenced his interpretation of fossils.

If fossils were found showing we were indeed degenerating, instead of evolving can we be sure this evidence will be shown to the general public? Is it possible that such hatred for God could motivate some individuals to alter fossils to support their worldview?
