Supplies:
Stringing beads: To transfer pre
strung beads onto pearl cotton, pull one end of 1 bead strand from hank,
slip off approx. 1 inch of beads into a small jar lid (for using later).
Then, make a loop, secure with a single knot. Thread pearl cotton
through loop and fold back on itself. Slide the beads over this knot
and onto the pearl cotton. Thread x5 strands of beads onto pearl
cotton.
Using both needles held together, cast on x15
stitches, slip 1 needle off. Knit 1 row. Pattern is worked
by knitting 3 stitches and then slipping the appropriate amount of beads,
ending row with knit 3 stitches.
Work pattern as follows:
Knit 1 row even. Bind off all stitches.
Decide which side of bag to make the right side. Then, with right
sides together, sew side seams. Using seed beads and assorted glass
beads, make a fringe on bottom of bag. To make a 33 inch long neck
band, thread 23 inches of seed beads onto pearl cotton, (may already have
this left over from bag). On first and last 5 inches of cotton, string
assorted glass beads, and seed beads into a pleasing pattern. Attach
one end of neck band to bag, then finish other end, making sure beads are
tight together. Seal knots with clear nail polish.
