Members of the Jessie Evans Gang
This section lists the members of the Jessie Evans Gang, who were hired early on in the Lincoln County War to serve as fighters for the House. They were the first set of gunmen fighting for Dolan & Co. Before the war, the gang was infamous for its livestock theft and trouble-making throughout Lincoln County and northern Mexico. After the end of the war, the gang stayed in Lincoln until Feb. 1879 or so, then fled to Texas after Jessie and gang member Billy Campbell were involved with another murder. In Texas, they stayed for about another year, robbing and rustling frequently, before the Texas Rangers arrested Jessie himself and wiped out the rest of the gang in July of 1880.
