A collectiion of rants, raves, and rock n' roll rambles by pop punkster and dumpster diving author, Sandoz Diego Cerveza. Sandoz is not only a socialista and peyotisa, but also a figment of the literary imagination and exists only in the mind and as the purple hazed and double dazed altered states alter ego of New Mexico writer on the storm and author Mike Marino.
Mike, however, has spent years roamin' and ramblin' the highways and byways of America. He's managed to beachbum it in Honolulu as a son of a beach living in a treehouse in Hawaii. He's also lurked in the dark alleys of the seamy sinner and saints streets, along with hookers, lesbians, drunks, pillpoppers and trainhoppers of the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles. Mike has also spare changed in tie-dyed Haight Ashbury as well as San Francisco's North Beach, where the beat goes on..and on.
He brings an off the beaten path perspective, along with his verbal machete to the vast forest of literature to cut a path to the flashpoint where pop culture and chrome meets asphalt and art. He has written numerous articles on everthing from red lighting and doping in Amsterdam to happiness with hookers and hashpipes. He lives today on his own unique planet as a freelance writer and published author. He's currently working on his third book called "The Peyote Coyote.>
THE HULA ATOMIQUE
In this online collection you'll find the first of the new style of story telling created by Sandoz. It's called the "novelito cerveza" entitled "1959".
It's a six-pack six-chapter bio-fiction that exlodes with coming of age imagery and puberty in the spaced-out sputnik spaceage in an Italian-Catholic badda-binged, badda-boomed greaseball neighborhood in the Motor City.
It's a chrome-magnon madcap rock n' roll romp complete with a patent leather squad of Catholic schoolgirls and an army of nuns and priests on a rampage of piety. It's where invisible childhood pirates, Martians from the Angry Red Planet, pasta, hormones and puberty collide in a meteoric headon collision of nuclear cold war nostalgia!
The "novelito cerveza" developed by Sandoz during an orange wedge flashback is a "tongue in chic" experimention of "cerveza" based bio-lit just for the hell of it. The primary purpose is to liberate the literati and lliterati as well as the writer/artists themselves from the pompous confines of overinflated ego's and pumped up sense of self-importance.
It's also a literary chainsaw to hack through the handcuffs of constraint and creative catharis and paralysis imposed by the poison ivy towers of academia and the staid cancer of bland journalism taught in schools by those who would castrate the creative limbs.
A six-pack six-chapter "novelito" can stand on it's own, a single story, a single unit. It can also mate with other "novelito cervezas" in a menage a trois to create a small family of stories, that when linked together create an orgasmic romp under the literary sheets. Two quotes by other authors will sum up the expression of a "novelito cerveza". In the words of one writer, "Good literature be damned! Just let the words fall to the page and have fun with each other". The other quote is from Bill Faulkner who said "A writer without a bottle of whiskey is like a chicken without a goddamn head!" Now, maybe the "cerveza" portion of the equation will make more sense.!
It includes select pop culture, pot culture and counter culture rock n' roll rants and rambles, as well as the nostalgic short story "Neon Eats" that deals with dead flies, warm New Mexican beer and old diners in the pastel Southwest. The collection also includes "Wheelchairs and Morphine" - The Bodybag Poem, and the first chapter of Mike Marino's rock n' roll cult classic, "The Roadhead Chronicles" called appropriately Where Cool Was Born.
THE HULA ATOMIQUE is a collection of articles previously published around the world in a dizzying assortment of underground, offbeat travel. counter culture newspapers, magazines, ezines, lit mags and lit rags from New York to Tokyo. They are a wickedly wonderful and delightfully weird demolition derby on subjects as diverse as the Cheech and Chong Grassy Bowl Conspiracy to the real reason why the Angry Red Planet and Martians Suck!

MIKE MARINO/SANDOZ BIO HAZARDOUS BIOGRAPHY
Author Mike Marino is a counter culture punkster and pop culture dumpster diver in the trashbin of American Nostalgia. Born in the Motor City of Detroit, Michigan, he left home and hit the road at an early age, ending up in the grass skirt capital of Honolulu and living on the beach for a year and half. Returning to the Mainland, he ended up exploring the tawdry, seamier side of the Sunset Strip in LA for a year, headed north to San Francisco to live in the ghost shadows of Kerouac & Co. in North Beach and then finally to immerse himself in the counter culture of the psychedelic land of the Angels of Hell in Haight Ashbury.
Keeping a journal of his travels, travails, perceptions and observations, he realized in retrospect that most of his time had not been spent in the company of learned scholars in Ivy Towers. He much preferred Bohemians to Academians, and spent most of his time with greasepaint thespians, Steely Dan lesbians, haiku hobo's, trainhoppers, pill poppers, hookers, trannies, roadheads, dharmabums, sinners and saints, the lines of differentia between them all too often blurred.
He eventually made his way back to Detroit and formed the Experimental Theater Workshop, comprised of local writers, actors and activists to produce and perform a series of one act plays that parodied the social mores of the times. Soon, he ended up doing a local radio show that led to a career as a morning drive on air personality at rock n' roll stations in Michigan and San Francisco. A chance meeting with and encouragement by author and icon Ken Kesey led to his writing career.
Although he travels much on a magic carpet to places like San Francisco and Amsterdam for the counter cultural highs they have to offer, Sandoz lives in New Mexico where he writes, collects guns, wears Hawaiian shirts proudly, drinks Moosehead beer and works magic with a welding torch creating low brow art from old abandoned auto parts.
