I lived in the Midwest, Michigan to be specific, where I worked many years in Medical Surgical, Cardiac, and Trauma units. I have also had some time working in L&D where I delivered an infant! (through no choice of my own, laughing not as nervously now!) but must say I experienced a miracle!
I was exposed to Hepatitis C many years ago and I have been fighting it's slow but steady effects for some time. I failed at the first treatment regime. I did well with the newest drugs out awhile ago, Rebetron therapy. I was in remission. The liver can repair itself, though it is a slow process,
It is now 2003. I am living in NC now and love it . I do fairly well and am trying to stay healthy and happy.
I expect to be on therapy - pegylated Interferon soon, please send me good wishes, as I do to all of you who come to this page.

Not positive? - Have you possibly been exposed to Hepatitis C through any blood to blood or body fluid contact? if so,get tested, the longer you have the virus the longer it has had time to replicate and is harder to "cure!" meaning become inactive or in remission.
I was told by a Viet Nam Vet that the VA has told him he is HepC+, but they are not treating him as "The drugs are not effective." I think that is not the the case, it may be the veteran is suffering with depression or PTSD, and the VA is considering the severe depression that can result from this treatment.
If you are a HEP C+ veteran, I would suggest that you ask your physician his opinion on treatment protocols. BE PROACTIVE! State what it is you are willing to do to make your reatment sucessful, for instance are you willing to take antidepressants, or join support group?
