About Weezie

Don't want to read about me, only want to know the basics? click here. If you're really interested, read on.

My "real" name is Elyse B. Gray. I'm a 19 year old student. I previously attended Kendall College of Art and Design in hopes of becoming an illustrator, but now I'm at Lansing Community College, studying anthropology.

I'm 5'2" (but I tell people I'm 5'4"), and 85 lbs. I have medium length brown hair and green eyes. I'm quiet, I would rather listen than talk, I'd rather watch than participate. I'd say I'm an observer. My worst traits are probably my physical weakness, my intense overanalysing and overthinking in every situation, slight arrogance, laziness, inability to pay attention, and having a million fears. My best qualities are my artistic and musical skills, my eyes, my manners, my intelligence. These are cropped lists! My bad qualities far outweigh my good ones in number, but my good ones are more important, right? I'm not very social, I like to be by myself for the most part, but this is definitely a blessing because I'm usually alone whether I'd want to be or not.

Art is my primary interest in life. My favourite activity is looking at, and critiquing, other people's art. It gives me inspiration to work on my own art as well. Second to looking at art, is my other favourite past time, drawing! I love, love, love to draw. My instrument of choice is graphite pencils. My subject of choice? Portraits. I like to draw celebrities, because if I draw someone that most people know, they can have a better understanding of how close I can come to matching someone's likeness completely. To see some of my art, check out my gallery. If you know of any other graphite portrait artists, feel free to email me their web address, I'd love to check them out.

Another big interest, anthropology! Its my current major, hopefully I'll stay interested. My primary area of interest is modern Middle Eastern and North African Arab culture. I basically am in love with every foreign culture, but I also love learning about ancient cultures. I'm easily impressed when it comes to ancient inventions and such.

I love animals! Especially insects. My favourite is zelus exsanguis, a species of assasin bug. Every summer, I make an effort to study a new species of insect and try to identify it. Zelus Exsanguis was last years insect, I do not yet know the proper name of this years. Other animals that I like are my cats, Sha Sha and Gracie. Gracie, not so much, but Sha Sha is my baby. I adopted her early this year when I first moved into my own apartment. We're best buds. My other kitty, Sqrrrl, died this summer on his birthday. He was the best cat ever, but he's gone now, so I'd best move on. I also love bats, and all reptiles. Dogs too, especially greyhounds. I hope to one day adopt a greyhound, or a whippet.

Computer games! Click here to read about my favourite old school rpgs and such. I devote a lot of time to playing these games, they are what keeps me sane!

I love celebrities and pop culture, and don't make fun of me for it. It basically started when I first started drawing celebrity portraits, now I can't get enough. I think its awesome (and nearly hilarious) that our species singles out individuals and has the power to raise them to god-like status. But they're still just normal human beings, and I envy that kind of immortality.
