TIP ~ TO FADE A *BACKGROUND JPG OR GIF Take it to Image Magic and choose "enhance". Put a % in the parameter box, usually somewhere between 2% and 10% works well, with 10 being the most faded. Click on "gamma" then "enhance".
TIP ~ MAKING A *BACKGROUND TILE To make a background image tile evenly across the screen, you must take the screen size into account. Your WebTV screen size is width=544 x 384=height. Use this size to make your Background one large picture covering the whole screen. USING THE SIZES BELOW WILL RESULT IN THE BG-IMAGE APPEARING MORE THAN ONE TIME ON YOUR PAGE (MAKING THE BG TILE ACROSS, AND DOWN THE PAGE). Wth= 272 x 192 =Ht. TIP ~ Advanced: *BACKGROUND LIGHTENING To lighten an image, light enough to use as a background: 1) take the image Url to Image Magic 2) On the tool screen, click on ENHANCE. 3) Erase what is in the box and type in 2% 4) Choose GAMMA and click on ENHANCE. You can mess around with the % to get what you're looking for.
TIP - Advanced: MAKING A *BACKGROUND When making a background, you must put a backing behind your gif so it will tile (cover the page) accross your page. A backing is simply another gif, solid in color, sized to the exact size of the gif you want to make into a "Background". Take both gifs url's to Image Magic. On the first page, enter your solid colored backing Url. Then, go to the composite page and enter your gif url. Everyting else should already be set, just push "Composite". Go transload your background.
TIP ~ A *Browser Is: A program used to access Web pages on the World Wide Web. WebTV comes equipped with its own browser that is specifically designed to view Web pages on a television screen.
TIP ~ *Byte A byte is a measure of computer memory. One thousand bytes is equal to one kilobyte and one million bytes is equal to one megabyte.

TIP ~ Remove Gray *BORDER Around Page When creating a page with frames you can remove the gray border around the page. The TV browser supports the use of a tag within a frameset. By default, the HSPACE and VSPACE are set to 1, creating the gray border. Make sure that you declare HSPACE=0 and VSPACE=0 inside the tag of the frameset. TIP ~ Here's an easy way to *BOUNCE an email While viewing the email, push the forward button. TIP ~ *Cache A cache is a type of memory used to temporarily store Web pages. Cached Web pages load faster because they are stored locally in your WebTV terminal. If your cache memory fills up, you may experience slower Web surfing or receive an error message that says, "This page is too big to be shown completely". To clear your cache memory, simply power off your WebTV terminal and turn it on again.
TIP ~ Cookie Is a small text file stored on your hard disc by a Web site you have visited, that contains information to remind the site about you next time you visit.
TIP ~ LOW CONTRAST *COLORS If your having trouble reading the text on a page due to low contrast colors, try using the highlight feature. Push Cmd, then the letter A.
TIP ~ Change the *COLOR or a gif. Take the gif url to Image Magick and enter it in the text field, press "view". When you are transferred to the next screen, click on "Enhance". On the next screen, click on "Hue",then right above that you'll see the "Parameters" and a text field with the numbers 1.6 there. This is how you will change the color. Increase the number 1.6 in multiples of 10. For example : make the 1.6 into 10.6 or 20.6 and so on. Then click the "enhance" button. Next page,click on output, then choose gif or jpg, then single file for non-animated or multi file for animated and click the output button. Next page, transload your gif. That's it!
TIP ~ BROWSER-SAFE *COLORS To be sure your Webpage visiter's are seeing the same colors you are, try sticking to the 216 browser-safe colors as Almost all platforms support them. TIP ~ *COLORS Colors are specified by numbers(Hex number) representing difering levels of red, blue and green light. Zero(00) is no light at all, while the higher the number is, the more of that color's light is present, FF being the highest. NOTE: If your designing a site for a very wide audience, you should use the colors hex number, as many browsers don't support color names.
TIP ~ *Color Attributes Of The <BODY> Tag bgcolor= Sets the background color for the entire page. text= Sets the color of ordinary (non-linked) text on the page. link= Sets the color of ordinary links on a page. alink= Sets the color of active links, in the process of connecting.
