RoboCop

TV and Movie page

It's Detroit sometime in the near future. Murphy, a tough cop transferred to old Detroit, is fatally wounded by a gang of lunatics. This is the big chance that OCP, the multi-national corporation that purchased the police department, has been waiting for to create a cyborg: part human, part machine, modern technology with on-the-street experience.

Robocop 2 walking In the second movie, a ruthless OCP executive creates a new, improved robot-cop: a ten foot tall, powerful monster. There's just one little problem: it has a brain salvaged from a convicted felon. And now he's out to get RoboCop...talk about good cop/bad cop!

In Robocop 3, the OCP merges with a Japanese corporation that has it's own, untested, ninja-robot. The perfect thing for crowd control. If you don't want the crowd to live. Naturally, the original RoboCop takes him/it on in a final confrontation that he barely survives.

There was also a three-movie series called Maniac Cop. This was sort of the evil twin of Robocop. Set in the dark inner-city, a cop gone bad and out to out-bad the bad guys. The first one stars Bruce Campbell, with Sheree North as a bitter crippled policewoman.

A tv series about RoboCop followed the original 3 robocop movies, though none of the episodes appear to be available on videotape.
A number of actors have appeared in the RoboCop films:
RoboCop: Peter Weller, Nancy Allen (as Murphy's partner), Ronny Cox (the corporate bad guy), Kurtwood Smith, Dan O'Herlihy (the appalled Chairman of the Board),
Director: Paul Verhoeven (who also directed Total Recall and Starship Troopers).
RoboCop 2: Weller and Allen, plus Belinda Bauer, Gabriel Damon, Tom Noonan, DanO'Herlihy
and director Irvin Kershner (director of 007 movie Never Say Never Again, The Empire Strikes Back, and Eyes of Laura Mars).
RoboCop 3: Robert John Burke (as the new RoboCop) Rip Torn, Jill Hennessy, Remy Ryan, CCH Pounder, Dan O'Herlihy
and director: Fred Dekker (who also directed Monstervision movie House, 1986).
