History of Unwaxed...

In the winter of 1999, a new, untouchable, beautiful musical revelation began. Alright, I'll try to lay low on the exaggerations. Anyway, in the winter of '99 Paul Schilmoeller, Drew Martinek, and Jared Isabella were talking about making a band to get together and screw around. Paul didn't play guitar at the time, but sang. They needed a guitarist. Paul suggested Tyler Folsom because he was starting to play guitar at the time. Drew and Jared were opposed to the idea of having Tyler in the band for no real reason. But then decided it couldn't hurt. They had our first practice and basically sat around and made noise, getting to know eachother. As it turned out, Tyler wasn't a bad guy at all. Or was he? No, of course not! They would practice nearly every day and we all really bonded. They only knew three songs that were covers: When I come around by Green Day, The world has turned and left me here by Weezer, and Down by 311. Everyday... the same songs... playing them so much, they were better at them than the bands that actually wrote them. Well, I don't know about that. The fact of the matter is that they knew the songs like the back of our hands. However, they never played any concerts for some reason, probably because they only knew three covers. Paul had been playing bass before the band started and said he didn't want to sing, but play bass. The band wasn't really working out anymore, but they were all still friends and wanted to be in a band. Paul ended up giving up the bass to play the guitar. That problem was solved, but now there was no singer. They asked Greg Reese, which was a friend of theirs before, if he wanted to be in a band with them as the singer. He was eager to be in it. We found that he had a great voice and he was a good friend, so what bad could come out of that? None, naturally. Since they kind of realized Torrid was a horrible name, they decided they needed another. Trying to think of one, they came up with Unwaxed from a floss box. It seemed like a pretty crazy, cool name to them, so it was the new name. Now, we were making more noise and coming up with songs to cover. They ended up with When I come around, Down, The world has turned..., El Scorcho, and some others that I can't remember. They had been practicing them for a while and they were invited to play at a party of a band that they were friends with. They went on playing only those covers and no originals. There was a taste for blood and they wanted more... more concerts, that is. They took a long pause to write originals, since if a band is gonna get big, it's not gonna just do covers. Well, I guess some do, but they didn't want to. So anyway, they wrote their first song "Agenda" and played more shows at parties and The Garage. Soon after, the five dudes began writing more and started playing more concerts. A long while after, they decided they had to start recording some of this and invested in a 4-track recorder. After buying one and realizing it was a peice of shit, they decided to buy the next step up. Hurray! The step up was awesome! So they began recording with it onto a tape, then linked the recorder to the computer and recorded the songs into the computer as .mp3 files, then all ther was to do was burn CDs with the files. They then distributed the CDs for a small fee to pay for the CD's, labels, and cases. As of now, Unwaxed is still all happily together as a band.

...........was that long enough? Mwa ha ha!
